November 1, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – At least nine Texas abortion clinics have suspended abortions starting today after an Appeals Court reinstated key provisions of the state’s hotly contested pro-life law yesterday, according to reports.

The ruling came just three days after U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel had struck down sections of the law requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital and to follow FDA guidelines in administering the abortion drug RU-486.

A statement by one of the chain of abortion clinics claimed that it was 'a sad day' for them.

A sad day for them is good news for babies and Americans such as myself. A day for me to be proud to be an American and to have once lived in Texas (in several places and several times!).

Would the US Supreme Court take this up next? Planned Death-hood has lots of taxpayer money to spend on lawyers...

What p*sses me off is that NO other medical procedure is allowed without safety guidelines and regulations. To say that this is going to ‘hurt women’ baffles me.

Why is it wrong to say, “Hey, the place where you go for a medical procedure must be clean and nobody can perform the procedure without certain standards”?

Heck, even if I was pro-choice, I don’t think I’d object to having a place that was clean and safe.

It is often pointed out that animals get better care at Vet Clinics than girls/women at abortion clinics...

From your link:
Anthony D. Romero, executive director of the ACLU, called such things as admitting privileges and the proper regimine for administering RU-486 “deeply personal decisions” best “made by a woman, her family, and her doctor, not by a politician sitting in the capitol.”

Wait, what? The state has no right to require abortion facilities to have emergency medical back-up for life-threatening emergencies to the "mother"? And these lefties claim to care about women's health? Hypocritical ideologues!

This is true. It's true all over the Christian world. It's because too many Christians, both genders, are spoiled rotten and want what they want when they want it.

I lived in the middle east for some years and can tell you that babies are ALWAYS welcomed in their world. They would no more have an abortion than they would fly.
I didn't find much to admire over there but their attitude toward babies and abortion was FAR more "Christian" than Christian attitudes in the West.

Since murder is against Christian morals, they aren't Christians. It's that simple isn't it?

Have any clinics closed down completely or have they just stopped providing abortions? Are they still providing other services for women?

All the lefties say is that clinics are closing completely.

If they are in fact closing down, it as much as puts the lie to the claim that the "clinics" were providing any "service" other than abortion.

Abortion is what paid the bills. Yes, they prescribed contraceptives and such, but any family doctor can do that. Without revenue from abortion, they can't continue to stay open.

Closing down the DEATH CAMPS, this is the best news I heard today. The party that says they are “for the children” are the most denomic and sickest I know.

From Whole Woman’s San Antonio which closed:

Whole Woman’s Health was established by Amy Hagstrom Miller, who saw a need in our communities for a more holistic model of healthcare.”

Whole Woman’s Health of San Antonio provides abortion care services from 3 through 25 weeks of pregnancy. We are a patient-centered women’s healthcare practice, where our focus is on the whole woman — her head, her heart, and her body.

**************

It’s a mixed bag apparently with some closing and some reducing hours of operation.

snip
Hours after the decision from the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, managers or
employees of 12 clinics from El Paso to Dallas to the Rio Grande Valley said their
facilities would either drastically reduce the number of procedures, or stop
providing abortions altogether.
