Q&A: Gay Marriage Debate Takes a Step Forward in Vietnam

HANOI – Gay and lesbian couples in Vietnam may soon be allowed to hold relationship ceremonies, as the country’s lawmakers begin a debate that gay-rights advocates and their allies hope could one day lead the country to permit same-sex marriage.

When the amendment was first proposed by the Justice Ministry in May 2012 it was unclear just what form it would take. And while the amendment currently being debated is a long way from hopes that gay marriage would officially be recognized, or would lead to equal rights for gay couples, activists say is a step in the right direction.

Gay rights issues have long been taboo in communist-ruled Vietnam, where same-sex couples were fined for holding relationship ceremonies.

But things have started changing thanks to the efforts of the country’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and several civil rights unions. The government recently issued a decree that will take effect next month abolishing the fine on gay ceremonies.

I can't believe that the Prussians of East Asia, a nation that spent generations fighting and eventually defeating the French, the Japanese, the French (again!), the Americans, "ARVN" and the Chinese would succumb to this kind of moral rot and weakness. Sad.

It is the ultimate hate-—immaturity...narcissism. It is a fixation and idolatry of self-—and rejection of true diversity (the “other”) which is when true maturity is reached——and the natural teleological ends of human beings (Natural Law) can create a flourishing culture.

Since Socrates—it is known that Virtue is needed for Free Republics. Without Virtue—only total slavery can result from all the chaos and no trust. Sodomy is always Vice since it is irrational and unnatural use of the body. It mocks God’s Design of the human body......this could be scientific and not religious. Both (Reason and God) state it is a Vice.

Homosexuality is always the total destruction (the collapse) of any culture because of the role models given to the next generation. Virtue needs to be modeled for children-—to be Virtuous. The culture needs to elevate the Virtuous. Only Virtuous cultures can have Freedom and the Marxists want total control of the masses....so they need Vice to be natural/normal so people can only trust the State.
