Eastern Iowa is a strange place, full of former industrial small cities/towns.
Western Iowans are >> better, but of smaller headcount.
There is likely a Minnesota-like farmer-populist cohort in the mix too.

The really good news here is that he’s retiring and giving the GOP a seat ( that is if the GOPe doesn’t trash the likely Republican candidate). As for his legislation, my guess is that it’s dead in the House.
