I just think rural people should make it clear that there are really two different nations within one. Just because they may riot in the city is no reason to impose martial law on rural America where life goes on.
I grew up in a fairly rural part of urban (rat) state, and moved back. I always felt like I have more in common with rural folk in the midwest, south and west than people in suburbia and urban areas here in New England.
And when I talk with my rural neighbors, most of them hold views many FReepers share.
I think that is the big divide in America.
