What happens when government legalizes fraud?
By STEVEN W. AUNAN Special to the Observer November 5, 2013
No one likes being defrauded. Its bad enough to have your money taken by some huckster, but its even worse when you realize it was your own damn fault.
My first exposure to fraud occurred at the county fair. I remember the feeling of excitement as I plunked down the first dollar and threw the first baseball. My dad, a former minor league catcher, was coaching my little league team that year, and I was convinced Id win on the first try.
Nine throws and three dollars later, I was still one point short, but the man with the big smile and the smooth brown hair handed me the toy dog and shouted to the crowd, Winner! Whos the next winner!?
Walking away with my prize, I knew I was a sucker.
Forty-five years later, hucksters on the midway amuse me. The really big frauds occur elsewhere, where the stakes are much higher.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation says fraud is a white collar crime a non-violent illegal act characterized by deceit, concealment, or violation of trust. And Texas, where everything is bigger, can lay dubious claim to the nations biggest-ever home health care fraud prosecution.
Dr. Jacques Roy, of Rockwall, Texas, and six co-defendants, have been charged with 10 different crimes, including Conspiracy to Commit Healthcare Fraud. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) says Roy and his colleagues falsified Medicare and Medicaid records over a five year period, eventually stealing $375 million from the programs.
But what if the fraud is not perpetrated by a deceitful doctor, or the corrupt CEO of Enron? I know its a stretch, but what if the government itself perpetrates the fraud?

And what if, after the law took effect, you discovered that you cant keep your insurance if you like it and the replacement policy will cost more?
You and I and the millions of people nationwide whose policies are being cancelled would call that bait and switch.
Stop pushing your religious values on everyone. Keep religion out of politics. Who’s to say fraud is bad?</sarc>
0 care is simply stealing from the middle class to create a dependent class. So each election the dems can trot out the dependent base with fear that the other candidate will take away the freebees and the dependents might actually have to get a job.
This “Wednesday after elections” feeling is not fun. Tired of seeing Fraud re-elected.
"Come with me. Your jail cell is waiting Ms. Sebelius"
If nsa can hack google, yahoo, and apple,
hacking election results would be a trivial task.
Well said.
Are we going to get a group of young smart lawyers suing the government for fraud? Hope so.

If it sounds too good to be true it is, but it just shows how stupid and self concerned this voting public is.

OOH! I know! The federal reserve devaluing our spending power for over 100 years? Trillions in unpayable student loans? A huge housing bubble? A medical system that comprises almost 1/5 of the entire economy when it should be about 80% less for the same level of care? Vague copyrights and patents allowed by huge corporations to limit their exposure to competition?
I could go on...it's hard to pick just one.

Yesterday showed us our future.
Yep...it’s over! Making other plans.
And Obama is continues to say to America “F-U”, by moving forward with giving CGI more of our tax dollars.
