Can someone explain the math: Rates go up about 40% on the 85% who have insurance...to pay for the 15% who don't.

Certainly the amount being collected is more than adequate to cover the 15% (most of whom are uninsured by choice). Where is all that extra money going?

The 85% who are already insured are also paying more for all the “free” stuff added to their policies, i.e. preventive care and things like contraceptives. Handing out “free” stuff is expensive.
