GOP rivals begin dishing on Christie

GOP rivals begin dishing on Christie: So this is what happens the day after you win a 22-point re-election victory and after the national media anoint you as the GOP establishment front-runner for a presidential race that’s still three years (!!!) away: Potential Republican rivals begin taking not-so-subtle shots at you.

That’s exactly what happened to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) yesterday. "Clearly [Christie] was able to speak to the hopes and aspirations of people within New Jersey,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) told CNN. “That's important. We want to win everywhere and Gov. Christie has certainly shown he has a way of winning in New Jersey, in states like New Jersey... so I congratulate him on that." In other words, as TPM put it, Rubio was saying, “Try replicating this outside of New Jersey.” Here was Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY): "I think the Republican Party is a big party, and we need moderates like Chris Christie who can win in New Jersey in our party.”

What they should be saying is, Christie has a shot at beating Hillary in the primary. That would be an interesting conversation for Christie’s 2016 run.

If you created a fictitious Democrat who was Hispanic and female and ran a poll of her against Christie, she would be within 10 points right off the bat. Run one story about her, and she would be within the margin of error.

Christie will learn a lesson that McCain was too stupid to learn: no matter how much you appease the demo rats, they will still stab you in the back at every opportunity

If anybody read the book about Romney’s run, you will read about why he did not choose Christie for VP.....lots of questionable dirt.

This is why the MSM and liberals (including those in the GOP) want Christie to run.....they can destroy him easily.

Yep, and meanwhile the RNC will undermine and/or under-support any conservative just like they did Cuccinelli, while Hillary will get the full backing of every element of the RAT party. If people get pissed enough for a 3rd party to arise, it will be a repeat of how Perot got the other Clinton elected.

That is because the Uniparty sees any reformer ss a threat. If you fix the problem then you wouldn’t need a fixer anymore now would you?

The gop can go to hell I am completely done with them. I will no longer offer even my peripheal support.

The gop needs to be defunded until Ted Cruz or Mike Lee is calling the shots.

I am an independent palinista. The GOP can sod off until they get that through their thick heads.

I believe the State Owned Media has discovered a template, which you described. We need an antidote because there will be a similar competition among Republicans in 2016. I want a vigorous debate that takes a different tact than what we saw in 2012. Instead of attacking each other, our candidates should compete with each other on giving the best attack against the Democrat's performance under Zer0. We need to turn the attack outward, and make the campaign a teaching process to the numb info-bots. The candidates cannot let the State-Owned Media goad them into attacking each other. This will whip up the base into an in-fighting that will be hard to fix when the dust settles after the primaries.

The boisterous, all-for-me character in Christie, gives me worry. I am worried he will be susceptible to the goading by the State-Owned Media. I worry that his no-holds-bared rhetoric will be directed towards fellow Republicans in a way that creates terrible consequences. His attitude of self-importance would be just the type that would walk through the Republican field like a bull in a china shop. He may be the poison pill that infects the GOP with such disunity that it will be impossible to fix.

Instead of the image of the bull in the china shop, I think of the old nursury rhyme, Humpty Dumpty. In this case, Humpty Dumpty is Christie when he takes he GOP off the wall and breaks in pieces after his contentious climb to the top. That will be a tragic outcome at a time when we need unity behind a statesman like a Ronald Reagan in the Presidency.

This guy is not one of us. He’s from New Jersey. His state has legalized gay marriage. He’s expanded Medicaid. And he’s expressed some gun-control and pro-immigration-reform views.

Same things were said about Romney. Didn't keep him from getting the nomination. The Mods outsmart us. They run one guy, we run 5 who split the Conservative vote.... Mod wins.

Forget about Saturday nights. The big reveal will happen when he gets on stage with Hillary. What a sight that will be—Humpty Dumpty vs Her Thighness, the Hildebeast!

Good points, although I’m not sure they’re fair to Mr. Dumpty.

The MSM started touting christie as the 2016 Republican nominee as soon as the election results started coming in. Now their job is to discredit anyone who disagrees with their appraisal.

I’ll vote for him if he’s on the presidential ticket in 2016, but as of right now I’m not going to vote for him in the primaries. He’s going to have to show what he can do in the primary debates to change my mind.

So what can he do to convince people like us that he can be a conservative?

If he is the nominee in 2016

the GOP deserves to lose and I will never vote for him

of course if they pass amnesty, the GOP won’t much exist after the 2014 election anyways

Doesn’t matter. No matter which Republican is running, the Rat will win. The fix is in.

I will not vote for Bush or Christie in 2016 — not that my vote counts anyway.

You mean like on the cover of Time Mag. with the line, the elephant in the room? The local radio station thought that it was so funny, they kept repeating it at every station break.
