NEW YORK CITY, November 6, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – New York City has been called “the abortion capital of the world.” The city has some of the laxest restrictions and the highest abortion rate in the country, with 41 percent of its pregnancies ending in elective termination. According to New York Magazine, 10 percent of all U.S. abortions happen in the state of New York, and seven out of ten abortions in the state take place in New York City.
But those statistics aren’t high enough for newly elected Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio, who claims the city is “underserved” by its dozens of abortion centers, and for whom increased access to abortion was a key part of his campaign platform.
De Blasio, who was elected Tuesday with 73 percent of the vote, has promised to partner with Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to help them expand their business in the city. He says he plans to help abortionists find neighborhoods that lack convenient clinic access and provide them with “city sponsored” space to set up shop.
Additionally, de Blasio has pledged to help abortionists wipe out their main competition – pro-life crisis pregnancy centers – that offer women financial and logistical help to either keep the babies they would otherwise be unable to afford, or place unwanted children with adoptive families.
De Blasio calls crisis pregnancy centers “sham” clinics. In his view, their refusal to perform abortions means they do not offer “legitimate health care.” He has pledged to continue the city’s appeal of a court order striking down a law aimed at closing down such centers.
In the event the court appeal fails, de Blasio says, he stands ready to “craft new regulations to prevent [crisis pregnancy] centers from masquerading as legitimate health care providers.”
To ensure there are enough abortionists to meet the city’s high demand, and fuel further expansion, de Blasio says he will continue to force doctors who train in city hospitals to perform abortions as a routine part of their training, a NARAL-backed program that started under outgoing mayor Michael Bloomberg, and which de Blasio called “groundbreaking.”
Another key part of de Blasio’s plan to build up the abortion industry in his city is to make sure women can pay for the procedure. To that end, he has promised to use ObamaCare to expand state-funded abortion coverage to more New York City women.
De Blasio, a self-described “democratic socialist,” has taken some flak for illegal or otherwise unseemly trips he took during the height of the Cold War. As a student, he traveled to the Soviet Union, and he and his wife violated the travel ban to take their honeymoon in Cuba.
Most notably, he spent much of his early adulthood traveling back and forth to Nicaragua, where he supplied the Communist Sandinistas – whom he called “really inspirational” – and their allies with funds and food while working with the Quixote Center, a Maryland-based leftist Catholic group that once referred to American foreign policy opposing the Communist leadership in Nicaragua as “spreading terrorism.”
Although New York City is heavily Democratic, de Blasio’s election breaks a 20-year losing streak for the party in the mayoral race. He defeated Joe Lhota, a onetime adviser to former mayor Rudy Giulani who ran as a socially liberal, fiscally moderate Republican, and who also supports legalized abortion and gay “marriage.”
So he’s for forced abortion but he wants advising a woman to have a child to be illegal. He really is a Communist.
This putrid sack of human garbage will earn his place in Hell.
What is truly alarming is that he never concealed who he is or what he believe and still garnered 74% of the vote. During the 20 years I worked in Manhattan, I witnessed the workings of several mayors including Mayors Lindsay, Beame, Koch and Dinkins. I also had the opportunity to witness the excellent outreach of Mayor Giuliani following 9/11. Some of these mayors were more liberal in their thinking but, good or bad, none ever did anything this evil.
Helping and supporting a woman to carry her pregnancy to its natural end (birth) is not “health care,” but dismembering children in utero is. Forcing medical students to perform abortions as “training” is evil. It makes me want to vomit. It is only a matter of time before Obamacare requires the same. We know how much they respect “conscience clauses.”
Because people are stupid and project what they want. He’s got a phony Italian surname, a black wife who is a former lesbian, and bi-racial kids. He locked up the Italian-American, minority, and gay vote right there without ever opening his mouth. Yes, voters are that shallow and that stupid. Look who they voted in as president based on their fantasies. “Warren Wilhelm” with a Caucasian wife and kids would not have done as well.

and wants to wipe out pro-life pregnancy crisis centers. this leftist pile of vomit would rather promote and lobby for innocent life to be NEEDLESSLY, BARBARICALLY DESTROYED than give a child a chance at life with a family that actually has moral fiber. I imagine that a child saved from the jaws of this animal might grow up to actually have a conscience and be one of those radical pro lifers, and that CANNOT be allowed to happen
I just can’t wait until Blasio announces how much less the city has to spend on its schools, because there are fewer children around that have to be educated. H’mmm, or will he say “indoctrinated.”

Umm, de Blasio, if I were you, I might begin to worry a bit about the ground breaking OPEN and swallowing up NYC whole. Followed by a small (volcanic) "burp" just to get the attention of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
