Poll: 78% of Uninsured Not Interested in ObamaCare

A new Gallup poll brings more terrible news for President Obama and his signature health plan, showing that only 22% of uninsured Americans intend to buy insurance through the ObamaCare exchanges.

One of the major selling points for using ObamaCare to disrupt our health care system (that polls showed up to 80% of Americans were satisfied with) was to insure the uninsured. But according to this poll, only a very small minority of that small minority is even interested in obtaining insurance.

Even more troubling is the realization that a month ago, that number was double; a full 44% of the uninsured said they would purchase insurance though the exchanges.

Over the course of a month, however, the reality of ObamaCare scared off half of that 44%

Let's see: 22% of the 16% who are uninsured is 3.5%. So, assuming all express "interest" actually put their money where their mouth is, this group will reduced the "uninsured" by 3.5 percentage points.

Meanwhile, there are now millions of cancellations for the 5% who buy individual coverage, and next year businesses may discontinue coverage for many of the 49% who get insurance from their employers.

If just 20% of people who currently have individual coverage decide ObamaCare is too expensive and employers quit covering just 5% of employees because it's too expensive, ObamaCare will even fail to reduce the ranks of the uninsured despite its enormous costs, curtailments on liberty, and widespread dissatisfaction.

It’s kind of funny how much information Obama demands from citizens and how little information citizens demand from him.

Next project for the Marxists:

Force every pet owner to purchase mandatory insurance. Not as impossible as one might think. Rabies shots are mandatory - so consider what else might be ‘required’ by mandate: damage liability, animal control costs, doggie park maintenance, neighbor complaints, pet adoption agencies, euthanasia, etc., etc.,

Yes.

And the long-term societal effects of ObamaCare are way worse than most people think.

It will profoundly affect lifetime economic attitude and outcomes of people whose immediate income prospects are in the range of 300% and 600% of the poverty line. The nature of OC subsidies is that they are eliminated when a person or a family's income exceeds 400% of poverty line. For a married couple, this is $62040/year. For a couple in their mid-50s, earning just $1 over that threshold causes their tax bill to go up by about $7400, a 740,000% marginal income tax rate.

The marginal rate effect is not quite so large for younger people, but it is high enough to make it rational for many to aspire to 400% of poverty line, and no higher. This will cripple the work ethic and halt upward mobility, and thus achieve the Progressive egalitarian ideal (well, except for the ruling class, but they never were supposed to be equal to the hoi polloi.)

America RIP, brought to you by Hope'n'Change™.

If they get EITC they probably already get Medicaid.

This was all for a vocal minority who had pre-existing conditions and couldn't get health insurance.

Instead of looking for a free market solution, the Democrats used this 'crises' as an excuse to destroy the Health insurance business and gain control over millions of Americans via the IRS.

For most the 'fines' will be less then the insurance would cost, at least for the first few years.

Young people could care less about 'fines'.

That’s because freeloaders love free stuff..they dont want to actually pay for anything..its the same kind of people who claim they cant afford health care yet you see them in line at Apple early in the morning picking up multiple iPhones

It’s the same with illegals. Very few of them want to become citizens.

As for the 22% signing up, how many of those are Medicaid.

So if I understand this only an additional 3.96% of all Americans will be buying into Obamacare?

And the only thing that would alter that dynamic would be if he picks up any previously insured people that have been forced to lose their current insurance due to his ridiculous coverage mandates.

Do I understand this correctly?
