The only reports that I have seen that say that she was in an accident and that her cell phone did not work were pure speculation from her aunt, who *was not there*. I suspect that more details will come out.
She is in a nearly all white neighborhood at 3:40 am. No one has asked what she was doing there. It isn’t like she was delivering pizza. It should be simple enough to determine if she had a friend or lover in the area.
If it were a white person in a black neighborhood, everyone would be saying “how stupid could you be”.

In Texas, it is a good idea to avoid knocking on people’s doors, especially at night. Even during daylight hours, I usually yell to my neighbor to get a response before even approaching his property. My neighborhood has 1/2 acre plots at a minimum, so there is plenty of distance in the front yard for someone to see you coming.
It DOES seem however, that the white killing black stories are, or need to be, exaggerated to be “interesting”, while the black killing white, or black killing black is just chock FULL of real life Hollywood.
What does the one have to do with the other???? Did he shoot her because he thought she was going to rob him or did it go off accidentally???

No. Trayvon Martin died because he attacked George Zimmerman and threatened to do him grave bodily harm, if not kill him. Renisha McBride died because she knocked on the door of a trigger-happy homeowner at 3 in the morning. There is no comparison between the two cases.
So I suppose the response should be, "Black person knocking on doors in a white neighborhood? How stupid could she be?"
I've handled shotguns since I was a youngster and I never saw one go off accidentally. Due to carelessness, yes. But they don't go off my themselves.

Observations, questions:
1) When you wake people up at 3:30 in the morning out of a deep sleep they are grumpy, fumble around, and do not make good decisions.
2) Nothing good happens after midnight. Why was she out after midnight?
3) Rules of gun safety. Do not point your shotgun at anything you do not intend to shoot. Do not put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot. Sounds like the homeowner was not NRA trained in gun safety. She was outside the house. He put his finger on the trigger, she died.
4) Sadly, she probably felt safe going to the door because she was in a white area.
5) For comparison, the author should be forced to answer the question of what would have happened to a white woman knocking on a door and seeking help in a black urban area at 2:30 Am.

In which the guard managed to get to his pistol first and get one shot off that killed his attacker.
And with the complicity of such publications as The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel manufactured it as a racial incident and continues to do so. Creating out of whole cloth a portrayal of a “white hispanic” with a Jewish surname security guard who “stalked” and “killed a 12 year old black kid in cold blood” in a rich white (jewish) community”. Thus whipping up racial tensions between blacks vs, whites and hispanics to promote soviet style positions on housing relocation and anti gun positions. And because of that propaganda there has been dozens of attacks on whites and hispanics which have ended in deaths or severe injuries eo which neither members of the media or the POTUS even distanced themselves from.

Maybe, but I’ll reserve judgement until more facts are in. Cell phones run out of juice, accidents happen so on the face it is a plausible story. Is their damage to the car? Is there another car involved? If so, didnt they have a phone? Where was the car and was it drivable? There is no way to tell when someone just shows up at the door after dark. I try to be alert but not paranoid. Its possible that it was all a ruse but you cant shoot someone on a hunch. Paranoid people are more likely to shoot a minority for knocking on their door. Had a black kid ring my bell about 9 PM recently that said he was trying to earn a college scholarship. He looked legit so I gave him some bucks. I try not to assume everyone is a sc*mbag but know they are out there.

And, knocking on doors at 3:40AM is going to make folks jittery...regardless of race. You think this black lady really would have got a better reception from a black resident in a black neighborhood?
