Where do Jobs come from?

I have some bad news. No one gives you a job because you deserve one. No one gives you a job because you need one. Not because you are a good person, not because you are breathing, can fog a mirror, and/or are entitled. The 'free market' doesn't mean you get stuff for free.

You get a job because someone needs some work done and is willing and able to pay you for it.

Let's elaborate just a bit. Someone needs some work done and is willing and able to compensate you with wages, working conditions, benefits, opportunities for advancement and intrinsic rewards just enough to persuade you to turn down all competing offers and accept the job; and willing to put up with your human deficiencies in getting the work done. He or she does this because you present the education, skills, experience, personal hygiene, judgment, grooming, intelligence and social skills adequate to get the job done and most important, to return to the employer value in all of the above that exceeds what it costs him/her to compensate you; and to do so consistently and for the duration of your employment, whether a weekend part-time temp fill-in contract or a 40-year gold watch career.

'Willing' and 'Able' require some further explanation. Let's start with Able.

I remember an old Looney Tunes where I believe Elmer Fudd was explaining capitalism to another character that had come into money; it was a great illustration.

Beat me to it by ~40 seconds. I also did not know that Skittles came from there as well! Thanks for the info.

How often do we hear the cry, “We want more jobs?” A never ending theme.
The would-be EMPLOYER is subject to countless laws, regulations, rules, and demands. Each is backed up by faceless bureaucrats, each with the power to destroy and bankrupt any business enterprise in the land.
However, there is NO rule, law, regulation that forces anyone to be an EMPLOYER. One may well demand a job, but the question is....To whom does the demand go to?

Article completely missed the impact of international trade. Especially trade with countries that have very low wage levels.

It blames the average American for losing jobs, when in reality we’ve lowered our import tariffs and allowed countries like Communist China to take our jobs.

They do not come from government, but government regulations can restrict jobs creation by the private sector. Only the private sector can create jobs.

This is silly. Everyone knows that jobs will come back from China if we raise taxes on ourselves.

Stop buying everything from everywhere but here. Bring back American jobs

That is what is important now. Jobs.

New jobs. Jobs here in America.
