In shift, GOP wants ObamaCare fix (RINOs are back)

Republicans have shifted their strategy on ObamaCare.

Weeks ago, many Republicans said ObamaCare—including Speaker John Boehner (Ohio)—was too broken to fix. But now, the GOP is drafting legislation that aims to do just that.

The GOP wants to rebuild its political capital and public credibility by solving ObamaCare’s implementation problems. This pivot comes after Republicans took major hits in polls following the government shutdown.

The House this week will vote on a measure called, “Keep Your Health Plan Act.” It aims to do what the president promised years ago: If you like your health plan, you can stay on it. Senate Republicans, meanwhile, are pushing for a vote in their chamber. That measure has already attracted Democratic support. …

Then why did Obama shut down the government?

“Keep Your Health Plan Act.”

If it could even work it would be a poison pill. The exchanges need those premium dollars.

Obama didn’t shut down the government but he was sure happy when the Republicans did.

Good God, the Gop-e is stuck on stupid.

What about the penalty? 1%, 2%, 2.5%....we all know it’s going much higher than that.

What about the fifty new taxes?

Ditch the entire “Affordable Care Act.” It’s neither affordable nor is it care. The end game is so-called single-payer, i.e., socialized medicine. It’s all about power and control. That’s all these scumbag statists care about. And money.

Repeal or Revolution. One or the other.

No, Obama shut down the government. With help from Reid. The GOP had nothing to do with it. The record shows precisely that.

Yeah...keep thinking that. Perception is reality. Obama has the media in his pocket and the public was going to blame the Republicans. ....and they did. It was such a bad idea even Mile Lee is trying to backpedal from it.

The RINOs can push all the bills they want but if odumbo doesn’t want what any bill contains, he can veto it and toss it in the trash. (Too much power for one person to have)

No, perception isn’t reality, otherwise you could shape the universe to your perceptions. Truth and lies are the actual absolutes and the devil does not dictate reality. And the reality on the ground is that people are not blaming the GOP, especially for the mess that Obamacare is showing itself to be.

So how can Lee “back down” from something he didn’t do?

Holding Obama to his promise that if you like your health care you can keep it is a good idea. A lot better that boneheaded shutting down the government.

You are having another day dream. Boehner has never held obama to anything. This is just another “we tried” vote ploy for the GOP base and dim bulb demo.

Don’t be so naive to think Boehner & McConnell will be engaging obama on kenyancare. They haven’t done it for 3+ years and they won’t suddenly start doing it now.

I don’t think they’re “keeping” Obamacare.

I saw several conservative commentators say that if they could get a bill through that would stop the cancellations, it would weaken Obamacare even more because there would be no one on the rolls to pay for it. That would drive working folk’s premiums even higher.

What we need to do right now is get the word out on Obamacare’s cost and what America is getting for that money. Over a trillion? How many uninsured could we have helped with that kind of cash.

Tell me again why we have to hold our (collective) noses and vote Republican to prevent the RATs from winning.

Any Conservative who votes for a RINO is as dumb as an Elmer Fudd supporter.

With the 2014 elections ahead I think there is a chance of the dems to over ride his veto the risk of the 2016 elections has a greater risk for them.

The GOPe’s “Keep Your Health Plan Act” is simply a minor “fix” to Obamacare that solely affects folks who SUPPOSEDLY were grandfathered and SUPPOSEDLY had the right to “keep their insurance if they like it”. The sole purpose of this legislation by the GOPe branch of the ruling elite is to save the bacon of Obama and the Democrat branch of the ruling elite in the 2014 election.

This “Keep Your Health Plan Act” should be thrown in the “Scheiße can” where it belongs. The true conservatives in the House need to propose in its stead a “Freedom of Healthcare Choice Act”. That legislation would FREE American individuals and insurance companies to establish and have ANY flavor of health insurance that each individual and family decides is best for that given individual/family. These private citizens are PAYING for their own insurance and THEY should be free to choose what is best for them in their given circumstances. They should not have an all powerful state and its ruling elite politicians and bureaucrats deciding what insurance is suitable for them.

OK, conservative Representatives, who of you will be putting together and introducing the “Freedom of Healthcare Choice Act”? The time is RIPE for an attempt to pass such an act. Let the Democrats and leftist RINOs vote against it—I’d dare them to do that. It would be an act of political self-destruction.

I like that title “Freedom of Healthcare Choice Act”. Has the kind of ambiguity the Dems wish they could think of themselves, and can certainly mean a massive return of healthcare to the private sector. Of course, expect a massive Alinskyization à la the late Ted Kennedy’s “Borking” (which was one of the worst cases of public perjury in history) . . .

Well letting all the sick people stay on Obamacare, then tell all the people on individual plans they can keep them.
Then who pays for the premiums of the sick people, since the younger people will not sign up and everyone else can keep their policies? The stated design for this mess was that younger people and everyone that got kicked off their policies would go on Obamacare and fund the sick people policies, now what, those people who will keep their policies will now pay even higher premiums and the MORONIC republican leadership is the saviour of Obamacare guess who the blame will be foisted upon?
Of course none of those A-Holes will have to worry they are exempt

If this is enacted, people who have already had their plans canceled, like me, are going to have to cough up much higher premiums to pay for the sick and subsidized people who are signing up for Obamacare.

It’s totally unfair to the millions who have already had their plans canceled or to anyone else who has to pay premiums based on all the mandated coverage the law requires.

This fix is way too late - it should have been done years ago. Republicans who sponsor this bill are no better than the Rats who are doing it - it’s cowardly political posturing at best.

Because they don’t want the dems to “own it”.

Let them eat their own.

They should be pushing hard how they tried to delay the mandate, but Obozo, Reid and the rest of the Donks would have nothing of it.

Let the Dems own this thing, then campaign hard against them.

Of course, this won’t happen. We’ll try to fix it, and then for the next 60 years conservatives and the TEA party will be blamed for destroying the “greatest healthcare system ever”, and throwing granny and everyone else under the bus.

I say screw it. Sit back and watch the donks implode themselves.

We can fix it when we get the White House, Senate and House back.
