I say cuts to Hagel are needed. The man needs to stay very far away from DC. Maybe Greenland?
The point is to lower morale and eviscerate the cadre.
Isn’t that what the enemies of America would hope for?
Obama said today how much he wanted to help Veterans.
Everything he says has an expiration date.
Why wouldn’t the hate America crowd make this announcement on Veteran’s Day?
Did you know about Hagel wanting to do this?
I’m waiting for him to recommend returning to the pay scales of when there was the draft. or perhaps the 1940 $21.00 a month for privates.
The way we acquire new weapons systems is broken. First, we pay a company to come up with a new concept, then we pay them tens of billions of dollars to develop it over then next 15 years, completely ignoring the fact that it is horribly over budget and years behind schedule.
But don’t touch the same in the Federal civilian workforce. They are unionized!
If this is the best the Sec. of Defense can do for the troops, we can get rid of that job and use the money for the troops. In fact, we could clear 80% of the Pentagon offices of the dead wood there, and no one would miss it.
Defending the nation is one of the few duties of the federal government. If we can’t do that for our military, let’s chop 50% from every worthless, unconstitutional agency’s budget. First things first.
Nothing like a corrupt Commie traitor as SecDef. Typical Obama appointment.
I thought he was talking about his pay..
who’d have thought he wants to gut the military..
(now now.. don’t everyone raise their hand..)
First cut the benefits to the people who have done nothing to defend our nation. Until we have no more civilians receiving food welfare and food stamps, municipal retirees who are retiring with huge benefits, cutting benefits to our military is not just a disgrace, it is treason.
Yet the bloated civilian force should be given paid time even when they didn’t have to work?
***retirees get too much money***
Let’s walk through this. In my military mind an enlisted Solider* who reaches the pay grade of E-7 has had a successful career. Stuff happens and some don’t reach that rank, stuff happens with others and they reach a higher rank. And of course enlisted Soldiers make up the vast majority of the force and therefore retirees
An E-7 retiring at 22 years will make $24,260. A lousy $24K for being away from family, being shot at, seeing his battle buddies blown to hell. And the SECDEF thinks that is too much.
(*Soldier/Sailor, Marine, Airman, Coastie)
more treason
More broken promises...I remember when TRICARE first came on the scene and there were angry crowds at the base theaters where they were briefing about this new healthcare program...I think this time there will be more than just angry crowds. There will be a lot of pi$$ed off military members, retirees, vets and their families being way more vocal about the broken bonds of trust. We’re fed up with this and other ways the military and its leaders are being treated. It’s more than just a purge—it’s a direct effort to gut, demoralize and weaken our nation’s military. This goes beyond healthcare, and we all know it. Upchuck Schmagel needs to man up and demand MORE money not less. They stop spending the money on ammo for the DHS and give that money to the military healthcare system instead. Who do they really want to defend this country????
This is an easy problem to fix. cancel all the wars bring our troops home.
April 17, 2012: Panettas weekend commute costs as much as GSA Vegas junket
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta flies home to California almost every weekend, racking up costs for the American taxpayer roughly equal to the cost of the General Services Administration's junket to Las Vegas that has Congress fuming mad this week. The AP reported earlier this month that Panetta, who has been commuting to his northern California home each weekend for decades, has made at least 27 round trips on government airplanes since becoming defense secretary and only reimburses the taxpayer $630 of the $32,000 cost of each trip. He is only legally required to reimburse the government for the commercial coach class fare.
April 16, 2012: Panetta Regrets Cost of His Weekend Trips to California as Defense Secretary
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said today he regrets the high cost of his weekend travels to California, and is looking for ways to save money on flights that have totaled about $860,000 since he came to the Pentagon last July.Throughout his Washington career, Panetta has routinely returned to his walnut farm in Monterey, Calif. on weekends. He did so as a congressman, as a cabinet member and as chief of staff in the Clinton White House...
...He also defended the trips, saying his wife and family are in California and that its healthy to get out of Washington periodically just to get your mind straight and your perspective straight.
I regret that it does you know, that it does add costs that the taxpayer has to pick up, Panetta said today.
Elite vs. grunts on display.

What’s the medical cost to the DoD of enlisting rump rangers who end up with AIDS, hepatitis, or any number of other sexually transmitted diseases? How much are medical costs driven up by enlisting more females and putting them in physically demanding (and destructive) combat jobs?
before our service members take a pay/benefit cuts...all member of Congress should lose half of their pay and then be required to sign up for obamadeathcare, and also NO life time pay check...
our military are on call 24/7 365 days a year..they put their lives on the line...Hagel is a laughing matter, how dare he even suggest this..
folks..VOTE ALL DEMOCRATS OUT IN 2014...WAKE UP AMERICANS
