I agree with you that Leno appeared afraid. He was hunched over his notes, reading from them in a hurried manner, not looking up at Cruz too much. We watch his program for a little while almost every night. We watch his UNfunny standup routine and then if we like his first guest we watch for a few minutes.
Leno did not act like his usual affable self with Cruz, he acted very nervous.
Rightly so, Leno's straw men were no defense for the Cruz missiles that Ted launched.
