Numbers are already moving toward the GOP over Obamacare's failings.

If the GOP has answers to bring relief to people numbers will continue to move in their direction.

No.

Let me explain how the world actually works to you on this:

1. Upton is a moron. He knows jack-all about what is actually in Obamacare. You can’t just “allow” those plans to exist, because the fine print detail in Obamacare will get rid of those plans very quickly. The grandfathering regulatory language basically requires more than a
“you can keep it” law to prevent taking effect.

2. Upton’s bill won’t make it past the US Senate in the current form. It does, however, if passed by the House, give Reid a House bill into which they can pour the Senate bill (Landrieu’s bill). As long as there is no House bill, we have the ability to make the Democrats who will lose over this, most of whom are in the US Senate, suffer.

Give Harry Reid ANY House-passed bill, and Landrieu’s bill is what gets passed, because in conference, Reid will make sure that’s what happens. Boehner is just too wimpy to control a conference.

This is exactly why the House has been avoiding passing ANY immigration bill at all. The people who have demanded that there be NO amnesty bill out of the Congress have predicted (quite rightly) that any House-passed bill will morph into the Senate “gang of eight” bill in conference.

Just today, Boehner finally got his head out of his rump and said “the House WILL NEVER go to conference on the Senate-passed immigration bill.” That’s it, he’s now signalled that NO immigration bill will be coming out of the House this year - at all.

This is the same tactic he needs to take with Upton’s bill. No bill out of the House will be better than any bill, for exactly the same reason.

Want to reap the PR benefits? Then start an ad campaign telling the American voters:

“We told you. This is why we went to the mat during the budget battle at the start of October. We wanted the individual mandate delayed by a year, because WE KNEW that Obamacare wasn’t ready for prime time. We TOLD YOU. You thought we didn’t care. We did. Well, President Obama and Harry Reid got their way... and now here you are.”
