The MI6 spy found dead in a bag three years ago probably locked himself in the holdall and died as a result of a tragic accident, Scotland Yard has said.
Outlining the results of a three-year investigation on Wednesday, the Metropolitan police said Gareth Williams most likely died alone in his flat.
But Detective Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt said the police could not "fundamentally and beyond doubt" rule out the possibility that a third party was involved in his death.
Williams's naked body was found in the padlocked bag, with the keys discovered under his body, in the otherwise empty bath in his flat in Pimlico, central London, in August 2010.

NEVER rule out ‘Arkancide!’
There was never any limit on how many times the Arkanciders could shoot themselves in the chest, so why not pack himself in a bag?
Why not embalm himself while he is at it?
Inside a padlocked bag in the tub.....that doesn’t even fit into my Clue categories
A man is found dead in a suitcase in a bathtub that was padlocked from the outside with no finger prints on the padlock. Police assume he did it himself? The keys were in the bag with him, right? And he was naked? This all happened in a bathtub? He was a spy?
Either 1) He was into weird fetishes and something went wrong or 2) He was murdered by pros that came up with a clever way to stifle investigators.
I guess motive would answer some of these questions. But it certainly appears someone else was involved.
Eh, rigamortis makes that tough if you don't act fast enough. Your arms get stiff.
Carrion Luggage

LMAO!
Post of the day as far as I'm concerned.
“Don’t ask, don’t tell” has consequences.
Eight Heads in a duffel bag...
Puts a whole new meaning on the phrase, “he was in the bag”. How come we get far more stories of this nature from England than anyhere else?
It was KAOS with the padlocked bag in the bathroom.
Very droll, Slim, very droll.
Probably wouldn’t fit in the overhead. ;-)
No doubt the police are correct; people lock themselves in their suitcases all the time.
I’ve been half in the bag myself on a few occasions.
