Medicaid-level care is, sadly, "substandard," to use the President's word. A review of the experiences of nearly 900,000 patients undergoing eight different surgical procedures found that Medicaid patients were 50% more likely to die in the hospital after surgery than patients with private coverage.

Makes perfect sense. Markets seek their level. If a doctor can't develop a client base that pays well for his service he goes to the market that is paid for by the govt.. Medicaid/obamacare will never attract the best doctors. The govt pays little, has a huge bureaucracy to deal with and the patients are notorious for not paying their co-pays and making huge demands on the doctor's time.

They also look at you like you are crazy if you expect them to pay for not keeping a scheduled appointment and they didn’t call to cancel so that someone else could be seen during that time.

It’s not only Medicaid patients that present these issues but also city employees who belong to an HMO plan. We refer to them as “bottom feeders” and my doctor clients are staying away from all of them.

“nearly 900,000 patients undergoing eight different surgical procedures”

Eight different procedures? Eight surgical procedures will kill almost anybody! :-)
