Seems like he panicked and shot the girl. Was his fear reasonable? When did he realize it was a woman he shot? Did he shoot her through the door? Did he warn her he was going to shoot if she did not leave? Did it go off accidentally or did he pull the trigger out of fear.
So many questions to be answered and depending on the answers I would think a wrongful killing/manslaughter charge would be out of the question.
