America after Obama

What will the United States of America be like after Barack Obama leaves the presidency on January 20, 2017 (assuming he does leave)?

Five days before the 2008 election, Obama declared he would "fundamentally transform" America. Obama has done much to fulfill that promise since January 20, 2009. If he completes his agenda, the U.S. will be very much like a European-style welfare state.

Obama is not personally responsible for some of the changes in American society that have facilitated the welfare state's growth. Charles Murray (Coming Apart), Bill Cosby and Alvin Poussaint (Come On People), and Nicholas Eberstadt (A Nation of Takers) focus on different -- albeit complementary -- facets of American society that have deteriorated since 1960. Murray focuses on increasing social dysfunction -- drug addiction, divorce, illegitimacy, single parenthood, etc. -- among (especially working class) whites during the last half-century. Cosby and Poussaint deal with many of the same phenomena among blacks. Eberstadt writes about the growth of dependence on government by a citizenry seemingly more adept at "gaming" the welfare state than they are at the habits of self-reliance that once were the heart of "the American character."

Another changing facet of American society for which Obama, although hardly an innocent bystander, is only tangentially connected, is the growing secularization of our culture. There are many examples of this transformation, such as the on-going "war on Christmas," and secularists' reliance on sympathetic judges to drive Judeo-Christian religions from the public square. The war on religion began long before Obama came on the scene and won't end when he's gone, but Obama and the Obamians have participated in the drive to cleanse America of any vestige of organized religion, except Islam.

Obama is responsible for increasingly polarized and violence-plagued race relations.

So, what will America look like after Obama? Sadly, more like a banana republic than the constitutional republic envisioned by the Framers in 1787. The country will be virtually bankrupt -- our national debt already exceeds our Gross Domestic Product -- and the populace will be at the ruling class' mercy. America's status as a world superpower will be just a memory.

Obama is rapidly moving the US to a Rule by Decree form of strongman government. Congress becomes largely a front organization to give the appearance of a representative republic, but serves more as a backdrop for the selective application of laws and regulations at the whim of the Big Banana. This is the model followed in Venezuela and the ghost of Hugo Chavez seems to have moved into the Whit House.

Short answer: Better than we were the day before. Much, much worse than we were 10 years earlier.

US military in shambles, US health industry irreparably damaged, US image in the world at at large at its lowest point in history, US economy set back 20 years, US race relations set back 60 years.

That’s just a taste of the bitter legacy of Øbozo.

“Congress becomes largely a front organization to give the appearance of a representative republic, but serves more as a backdrop for the selective application of laws and regulations at the whim of the Big Banana.”

This is exactly why Harry Reid has obstructed every piece of legislation (including a budget) since the passage of 0bamacare. The idea is to deliberately create a dysfunctional Congressional gridlock so that 0bama can assume de facto dictatorial powers to rule by decree.

The good news that we can know for certain now is that Obammy is not "THE ONE". He is not the ole 666 guy. He's toast. Yesterday he repeatedly said they "fumbled the ball". He can't even get his sports analogy's right. He didn't fumble. He threw a pick six.

Baraq had great ideas, but lacked management talents.

A vote for Hillary will make his dreams reality!

I can see that advert running in the ‘hood.

Obama has just approved China, to process Chicken sent to China from America, then sent back to America’s market and still say it was made in America.

I believe Obama will regret this day.

Buy American.

Do not buy ANY chicken. Anymore. Because now you can’t tell where it is from.

It is time to bring back America.

Palin. Cruz. Get out front.

That is the big unknown. He has written the directives (AKA Executive Orders) to facilitate his continuing rule in the event of a "National Emergency" which he himself can determine and decree. Cuidado!

I don’t think the Clintons will allow him to stay. I think they feel that Hillary is “entitled” to the Presidency and they will do all they can to get it for her. If Obozo gets in the way, it will be like two Mafia families fighting it out over ownership of territory. I can’t imagine that she has forgiven him for taking the nomination from her in 2008. She thought she had it all wrapped up - and then she didn’t. The Clintons will be even more determined that they go back to the White House.

"...assuming he does leave..."

That was my first thought - Martial Law is much easier to maintain with a compliant military (or a psuedo one)....

I see a short term conservative Republican plan after the mid-terms, and then a huge reform movement when a conservative republican is elected president.

The Mid-term first 100 days.

Assuming the conservative Republicans have control over both houses of congress, and the liberal Republicans have been eroded so much that they can no longer effectively betray the conservative Republicans, Obama will still be in the White House, so the full conservative agenda cannot yet happen. However, they can still do much to put the United States back on the right track, in preparation for the next presidential election.

1) The first assumption will be that Obama will veto everything they send to him, so they must change budget organization to separate the budgets of what they do not want funded from what they do want funded. He cannot veto what never reaches his desk in the first place.

Perhaps the best way of doing this is to budget funding by federal agency, so there are separate votes for the Department of Defense, the EPA, the Department of HHS, and others. This allows them to still forward significantly reduced budgets for some agencies, but will give Obama the opportunity to veto the budgets of liberal and leftist agencies, one at a time, which will be intensely politically painful to him and the Democrats.

2) While it is unlikely that the conservative Republicans will get a 2/3rds majority of the senate, so they cannot impeach in the house and remove from office in the senate, they can still cite for contempt cabinet officers *and* bureaucrats, as well as impeach them, to at least strip them of their veneer of legitimacy. And congress can hold public hearings that amount to accusations of criminal behavior, over subjects like Fast & Furious. This will do much to erode bureaucratic willingness to violate the law, if it is known that with a Republican president, and an honest Justice Department, this *will* result in criminal prosecutions.

3) Because of the obnoxious behavior of the Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, who did much to diminish the minority authority of their respective houses, when conservative Republicans dominate those houses, they should not, like the liberal Republicans, approach the Democrats with unearned fairness and moderation, but should treat them like they treated the Republicans.

Time and time again the liberal Republicans were kind to Democrats who abused Republicans, likely preferring an alliance with the Democrats against the conservatives. This must end. Democrats must feel the abuse they have inflicted on Republicans.

4) Perhaps the most important thing they could cut off would be student loans. If all federal student loans end at once, the universities would have no choice but to either slash admissions or charge lower tuitions. In both cases, the end result is essential to the future of America.

5) The audit of the FED is essential to recover from the obscene game by the FED and the Treasury. Once it is known to congress, steps can be taken to mitigate the disaster.

...the populace will be at the ruling class' mercy.

Sounds like a recipe for a dead ruling class! Terminate them, one or a few at a time, without warning. Just when does preemptive self-defense become murder, anyway?

If we get a Republican President, I can imagine that he might use his own EOs to undo many of Obama's lawlessness. The Dims will cry foul because such EOs are un-Constitutinal and the MSM will parrot the party lines.

The repubs in the House and Senate will do what they have yet to do and decide that such EOs are, in fact, un-Constitutional and help impeach the Republican President.

I had a thought that he may not even feel the need to pull such a stunt: given his track record on ignoring the Constitution, he may simply ignore the 22nd Amendment and announce that he's running for a 3rd term anyway! After all, who's going to challenge him on constitutional grounds? All he needs is one more SCOTUS appointment, and he'd have the rubber stamp he needs to make it legal even if it was challenged.

And given the outcome of last year's election, I'm sure he'd be able to convince enough LIV morons to vote for him over the evil, racist, greedy Republican, regardless of how bad things get.

“Republican/ GOPe need to put away knives they have used on Conservatives, and return back to their core values.”

No, they don’t. They are liberals, so whatever values they have are liberal. They cannot be expected to reform, so conservatives must purge them.

Latest example: John McCain standing up for Eric Holder, after supporting him against censure by the house, he now rejects the idea that he should be impeached.

I reluctantly agree .
Unfortunately, I have voted for the lessor of two evils in the past .
I just dont think the country can endure another Zero-like administration / redux in 2016 .
I didn't leave the Republican party ,..it left me !
