Toronto’s crack-smoking mayor Rob Ford warned Nov. 13 yet more scandals may come out as he faced a grilling by the city council but denied he was an addict.

~snip~

Ford said he could not assure council that there were no more skeletons in his closet. “I don’t know. I don’t know, there might be like a coat hanger left in my closet. I don’t know. I don’t know what is left,” he said.

I've been reading about the guy's tenure as mayor. It's quite interesting.

I appreciate your effort to supply information in the whole context of things. To update on the man's plight, the council have been able to strip the mayor of his two chief powers today. Now he is mayor in name only. One power gone is his right to hire and fire. Now this has thrown a whole new hitherto unknown possibility into the system.

There are the people who elect the man and then the politicians. Power has been taken from the people. The rabid press has virtually brought about his downfall. They were after him from the get go.

Yeah, like the "blame George W. Bush" exists in the United States yet. It is a syndrome of those who seek to destroy, then get worse in it's place. Suddenly the council dumps on Ford. He is the cause of all the problems. One sees the crying about what this does to Toronto and it's international reputation. The thousands dead and devastation in the Philippines certainly go reported, but quickly back to poor dear Toronto.

Excuse the ramble.

I recall DC mayor Marion Barry went to prison for doing crack, and it didn’t stop him from coming back later and getting another term as mayor.

On your post re DC Mayor Marion Barry. I did some Wikipedia work and will say he is larger than life. I wish him well.

One thing I should have mentioned on Mayor Rob Ford is the honesty in things financial. He has even paid his own expenses. We knew they(naysayers) were gunning for him when he used his mayoral letterhead sheet inadvertently, to appeal for funds for a youth football team equipment. The youths were locked into a district with little hope for a decent job. Drugs and violence prevailed. They were black youths. Ford wanted them off the street.

He managed to ride those charges out.
