$174K-Per-Year Congressmen Will Get Special Obamacare Subsidy
CNS News ^ | November 15, 2013 | Barbara Boland

Under Obamacare -- as it is being implemented under a regulation issued by the White House Office of Personnel Management (OPM) -- a middle-aged member of Congress who earns an annual salary of $174,000 from the taxpayers, and who has a wife and children, will get a $10,000 subsidy from the taxpayers (over and above his $174,000 salary) to buy a health insurance plan that a regular citizen making almost $80,000 less than the congressman will not get.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), popularly known as Obamacare, included language mandating that members of Congress and their staff buy their now-mandated health insurance plans through a government exchange.

The laws says: “Notwithstanding any other provision of law, after the effective date of this subtitle, the only health plans that the Federal Government may make available to Members of Congress and congressional staff with respect to their service as a Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be health plans that are—(I) created under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act); or (II) offered through an Exchange established under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act).”(continued)

Oh, Thank Goodness! Now I can get some sleep tonight not worrying about how this dickhead can’t make ends meet on $174K a year.

*SPIT*

I will never understand why so many people trust and respect these politicians. They are the lowest of all lowlifes. There is only a handful who are there to represent the American people. All the other ones are there to fill their own pockets and enrich their friends and family. This country would be 1000 times better off if DC fell off the map.

Please take a moment to read the excerpt of Federalist #57 posted immediately below to see where inattention to our freedoms has taken us and WILL ultimately end up.

Federalist Paper #57 James Madison
“I will add, as a fifth circumstance in the situation of the House of Representatives, restraining them from oppressive measures, that they can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as on the great mass of the society. This has always been deemed one of the strongest bonds by which human policy can connect the rulers and the people together. It creates between them that communion of interests and sympathy of sentiments, of which few governments have furnished examples; but without which every government degenerates into tyranny. If it be asked, what is to restrain the House of Representatives from making legal discriminations in favor of themselves and a particular class of the society? I answer: the genius of the whole system; the nature of just and constitutional laws; and above all, the vigilant and manly spirit which actuates the people of America, a spirit which nourishes freedom, and in return is nourished by it. If this spirit shall ever be so far debased as to tolerate a law not obligatory on the legislature, as well as on the people, the people will be prepared to tolerate any thing but liberty. Such will be the relation between the House of Representatives and their constituents. Duty, gratitude, interest, ambition itself, are the chords by which they will be bound to fidelity and sympathy with the great mass of the people.”
“Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.”

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

ALTER it. Part-time legislatures, state and federal. 1/10 the pay, no retirement, no health care, no benefits, no perks and any staff is part-time paid out of the legislators part-time paycheck. They can get leave-of-absence from their regular full-time jobs to conduct the nation’s business on a quarterly or semi-annual basis. They can do something productive, not progressive.

That is basically what the government was paying for that Congressman and his family before on the federal employee plan. The employee paid about $4800 and the government paid $10k. The interesting thing is that OPM, the governments HR department is requiring people being kicked out of FEHB to get the gold plan and their costs stay about the same.

I’m thinking Utah has the right idea, giving people their choice of being hanged or shot to death.
So on this issue of Congress pigs, I’m definitely pro-choice. It’s just the right thing to do.

James O’Keefe should do some undercover filming of DC elites so the rest of the country can see how the blowhards feel about the citizens who pay for their 'lifestyle'. Elites would shoot our grandmothers if it gave them an extra meal in an upscale DC restaurant.

Obviously Madison felt strongly about this so why wasn’t it included in the Constitution?

He and the others couldn’t conceive that we would become the inattentive and disinterested people we have, in fact, become.

Were he and the others to return today, they’d be in the streets with guns, in jail or dead.

Wow. $174k/yr. I’d be happy with just a third of that. That doesn’t include the bribe money either. The insiders trade money. The speaking engagement money.
