Notice how short the timeframe between the roof these debt ceilings are set is getting shorter and shorter...
Its almost like when you shoot yourself in the foot, so many times, you eventually end up not hitting anything...
There is nothing left of our economic credibility with a hole that big now...
repeal or shut-down.
The Democrats want another shutdown to blame on Republicans and take the spotlight off Obamacare. I hope the Republicans are smart enough to avoid that trap.
And because there is no limit, the gov is spending like crazy... bonuses galore
There is no ceiling. Period. There is only borrowing authority.
Consider it’s a credit card with no limit that expires in 84 days. And it’s in the hands of a crack addict.
Not strictly speaking true...
On the first day of this ceilingless time period, mysteriously the national debt rose by 3/4 $trillions. To cover more bailouts and cronyism and tyranny, whose to say that on the last day it won't rise by 3 or 4 $trillions.
But, but, but, how can that happen? Pres. Obama told us that by raising the debt ceiling, that did not necessarily mean that we would spend more or be more in debt. I am certain I remember him saying that.
Here we go again.
This is a very important story ...
As the Democrats seek a away to fix the ObamaCare disaster AND push through an immigration bill, the Republicans hold all the cards.
Under the plan to end the shutdown last month, the losers in DC agreed to three things:
December 13 - Negotiators are tasked with reporting out by Dec. 13 recommendations for longer-term spending levels and deficit reduction.
January 15 - The stopgap measure that reopened the government only funds the government through January 15.
February 7 - The agreement suspends the debt ceiling until February 7, at which time the government loses its authority to add new debt.
There is NO progress on any of those three deadlines. Meanwhile 2014 sequestration cuts loom, another government shutdown is likely, and the Democrats are suffering through their HealthCare Pearl Harbor.
What will the Republicans do? They hold all the cards.
But unfortunately they have people like John McCain who would compromise anything to get in front of the camera.
Bush’s fault! He should’ve set the debt ceiling MUCH higher when Obama was just a Senator!!! < /sarc >
