Obama relies on changes to immigration rules as chances dim that Congress will rewrite laws

The Obama administration will allow some relatives of U.S. service members living in the country illegally to stay, according to a policy directive issued Friday.

The nine-page memorandum is the latest in a series of immigration policy changes made by President Barack Obama since he took office.

Isn’t it Congress who is supposed to be making laws?

Just because they aren’t passing laws doesn’t mean they aren’t doing their jobs. Some might even say that not promulgating more deleterious legislation is a good example of HOW Congress should do its job.

There are too many laws already.

I can sort of understand why no one in Congress wanted to bother contesting some of Obama’s initial executive orders back when he was still considered the Messiah by so many. Now that Obama’s popularity has plummeted and the general sense in the country is that he is a dishonest and ineffective leader every single one of these illegal orders should be contested, ignored, overruled and fought by any other possible means.

I don’t care if it would take 18 months for a challenge to get to the Supreme Court, there should at least be some resistance to this abuse of executive power.
