I thought maybe shed been talking to Senate Republican leadership, Cruz quipped to the national convention for the Federalist Society (Fed Soc) Thursday in D.C., to thunderous laughter and applause.
While Cruz tweaked some fellow Republicans with that joke, he mainly took aim at President Barack Obama, decrying what he calls the pattern of lawlessness of the Obama White House.
He criticized the waivers of major parts of Obamacare given to certain big businesses and members of Congress, both of which are illegal, he said sharply, pointing out that the Affordable Care Act does not authorize those provisions in the statute to be waived.
This is part of a larger pattern of disregarding the law, Cruz elaborated, pointing to Obamas cancelling deportations of vast numbers of illegal aliens, and the administrations recent announcement that the Justice Department will stop prosecuting certain federal drug crimes. He described the administrations approach as, We dont like these laws, so we are not going to enforce them.
Cruz focused his remarks to this group of distinguished judges and lawyers on what he calls the radical push by the Justice Department under President Obama for unchecked federal power. And he noted how those arguments have fared in court.

Thank you for that melody! The Young Rascals were the first big concert I attended, back around ‘67.
Wow that is awesome. The Rascals songs brings back fond memories of my childhood at a time for me it was simple.

ROFL!!!
I totally didn’t expect that on this thread!!!
Well unfortunately it is not Leslie LOL it is Endlessly ROFL. Here is a snippet of an interview of Rascals leader Felix Cavaliere.
“When “Groovin’” was released in April, a lot of people thought I was singing, “Life would be ecstasy, you and me and Leslie”like I was with my girl and she brought along a girlfriend. The line, of course, is “You and me, endlessly.” The guys in the band used to make fun of how I slurred uneven words to squeeze them in to fit the beats. The problem was that there was a conga fill under “endlessly.” Gear didn’t exist then to separate the twoto make the three-syllable word clearer.”
Nobody expects the Leslie Cortner Inquisition!
Misheard lyrics are funny sometimes.
There are even Youtube videos of foreign-language music where someone added subtitles of what they thought the words sounded like. lol
It’s like the lyrics in The Mamas and the Papas’ “California Dreaming.” Does it say “the preacher likes the cold” or “the preacher locked the door”?
‘27 dresses’, a RoCo film does a good portrayal of this the inebriated couple singing along to the jukebox version of ‘benni and the jets’ they bicker about what the words are and they’re both wrong
The only way to know the lyrics to that and a lot of Elton John is to read off the record ( Internet lyrics are often wrong) because they are in audible and senselessly random
Nobody expects the Leslie Cortner Inquisition!
