Looks like we will become Venezuela in short order, where the shelves are bare and even electricity is a luxury

Coal is being crushed because scotus ruled that CO2, a naturally occurring trace gas necessary for life, is a pollutant and can be regulated by the EPA giving soetoro the power to do, unconstitutionally, what he couldn't achieve constitutionally.

Does anyone believe that the hated fracking isn't next on the list after the 2014 elections?

more jobs lost in the coal industry just before CHRISTmas and other support jobs as well.

Our economy will not take another 3 years of obama and biden destroying important industries.

bet there is a big fat deal for chinese coal in the works.

Some of this has been in the works due to the age and inefficiency of some coal fired power plants. But the EPA has been trying to destroy the coal industry for decades (Carol Browner, the marxist, her protege’ marxist Lisa Jackson, and now the “butch” McCathy).

Good news for the people who will need all the power they can get for the coming winter. Snow is scheduled to hit New York and Boston tomorrow after slamming parts of the MidWest.

How do you like your “liberals”? Frozen, I hope, except they have all the money (ever known a poor liberal), while the moderates and conservatives are mainly the working class.

The poor get help with the heating bills (the ones who really need it often don’t because of the welfare cheats).

Looks like the TVA, EPA and Obama are giving out lumps of coal for their Christmas gifts, or it is for Kwanzaa?

The death of coal is not a death but a murder. The miner’s union that backed obama has committed suicide. Our wealth is under our feet and what will replace it? An entire resource put off limits to enrich the rich and further destroy the middle class. But the chinese have coal options on federal lands. Why is that?

“Mitch McConnell fought to stop them from closing”

One of obamas useful idiots. Even kissing the kings arse didn’t help.

Oh! This is horrible!

How are they going to charge those electric cars and golf carts without power from coal generating plants? Oh, the horror if it all.

Alright, maybe I overlooked the fact that they could use wind and solar power during the day to do that....but only for a small amount of “greenie-weenies” with their precious electric “energy saving” vehicles.

Everyone needs to have a good stock of candles for lighting the house at night and a lot of firewood to heat the home while the green energy production plants close for the day.

I spent a very cold winter at Paradise when unit 2 was being constructed

******
And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away

Then the coal company came with the world’s largest shovel
And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land
Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken
Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man.

And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away

When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
I’ll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waiting
Just five miles away from wherever I am.

And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away

“If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them. Under my plan, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” - Barack HUSSEIN Obama, January 2008

"The more curious part of this formula is that demand has dropped in the TVA service area. In specific, they cited a company which enriched uranium for commercial nuclear power plants – consuming huge amounts of electricity in the process – shutting down. But even beyond that one large consumer, the TVA cited a “plateau” in electricity demand over the last four or five years with no projections for an increase in the immediate future. I’d be curious to find out what factors led to that."

I can venture some guesses:
