Why does almost every cable channel put an annoying logo at the lower right corner of the screen which sometimes blocks what can be viewed? Hate that.

They are called watermarks and I’m pretty sure the content providers make them to that to help prevent piracy. Also, it identifies their stream so if somebody posts to YouTube, they will be able to send Google a take-down notice.

They're afraid that with 100 or more choices you won't know what channel you're actually watching, just the program (which is really bad for them when time comes to convince advertisers to buy ads)
Not an issue in the old days. If you were watching All in the Family it was obvious that you were watching CBS, etc.
Some rerun shows like Cheers or Matlock are running on as many as five channels simultaneously.
