Ideally, I think they should repeal and NOT replace. In other words go back to a free market health care system, that would mean dropping volumes of law that were in effect even before Obamacare but the chances of that are slim and none and Slim is on a very long vacation. There is a lot of room to do something less absurd than Obamacare which only an idiot would vote for unless he stands to profit immensely from it but anything other than getting the government out of it is the wrong thing to do.

The problem with government is that it can so easily pretend to be devoted to doing good when it almost never is. The reason you seldom hear of a person seeking an alligator and sticking his head in the alligator’s mouth is that just about anyone can understand how dangerous that is but people seek governmental solutions to their problems because they don’t realize that in the long run the results are similar to sticking your head in the alligator’s mouth.

No, I don’t mean to say that government can never do anything positive but it takes people of real character AND INTELLIGENCE in government to do the right thing, those people are in very short supply most of the time and certainly now. My normal opinion of government is that we should be shouting, “DON’T JUST DO SOMETHING, STAND THERE.”

Agreed. But the spin from the DNC and their mouthpiece MSM will be "starve children, throw granny over the cliff". Basically the Repubs must repackage the free market idea along with some real changes like tort reform and cross state portability for starters.

The fixes for these problems are available today, as off the shelf IT systems, that are used in over 20 countries around the world.

The ACA IT problems will be fixed by next summer during the primary season, and every schmuck talking head who is claiming the ACA is dead , are going to slither under a rock or disavow the idiotic columns they’ve been writing for the last 6 weeks.

Any GOP politician running against the ACA due to these IT glitches will look like an idiot by June primaries, and could well lose the general election due to their “Doomsday” predictions that didn’t pan out.

Personally, as a former computer programmer (FORTAN Expert system), I believe the software was deliberately written to fail.

Why ?

Because imagine the rest of the United States "political catastrophe" if everyone could visit an "Amazon.com quality website" ...

and just "click" ...

discover that they're premiums and deductibles have just doubled or tripled.

There would be blood in the streets.



So ... No ... this isn't about software.

Rather it's about one-million DEAD Americans come next Nov-2014 (election day) ...

DEAD Americans who were denied timely healthcare, hospital visits that were cut short, mortally sick patients who had their doctors changed and health plans canceled.

People will FLOCK to the election polling places to DESTROY the Democratic Party.

Even James Carville and Howard Dean know this.

The only way Obamacare has a chance of being killed is if the GOP gets a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, retains control of the House and seats a solid conservative in the White House.....and even then, they may not have the fortitude to repeal.

The Republicans don't need a filibuster-proof majority to kill Obamacare.

The final version of Obamacare was passed after they lost their filibuster-proof Senate and Reid used budget reconciliation to pass the House-passed amendments.

McConnell has frequently remarked that, given a simple majority, he can kill Obamacare in the Senate using the same budget reconciliation device (which requires only a 50% + 1 vote).

Many disaffected liberals who would not be able to bring themselves to vote Republican might put in a vote for a Green or a Libertarian or some other spoiler, if they vote at all. Even if Democrat buses round them up!

Pelosi is possibly the best example of all of what I mean when I say that the federal government is now under the control of people who would have been locked up in an institution for the criminally insane when I was a boy. She is a living parody of a politician, no satirist could ever invent a character who babbles any more absurdly than Pelosi.

The only thing I can recall that comes anywhere clost to her for sheer idiocy is a long ago comic strip about a little girl, “HOLLYHOCK”. In one strip Hollyhock is listening to an aspiring politician promise everything from free health care to a chicken in every garage and a car full of pot for every voter. Hollyhock finally asks him how he intends to pay for all those goodies and he pulls himself up, expands his chest and says, “Easy, little girl, we have amassed a huge DEFICIT, why don’t we spend some of that?”
