I will censor my own comments as being too profane for the forum.

Did he substitute with “under Obama?”

I, for one, am not at all unhappy that Obama did not use the name of God in vain.
Obama is an acolyte of one guy who dedicated his magnum opus, Rules for Radicals, to Lucifer, and a follower of another guy, the philosopher who wrote “With Satan I have struck my deal. / He chalks the signs, beats time for me, / I play the death march fast and free.” (The Fiddler by K. Marx)
It is entirely proper that Obama should not speak of God.

There are five different versions of the Gettysburg address, all written by Lincoln. The wording is not the same in all of them. Obama, or Ken Burns, or somebody else chose to use one of the versions that does not mention the Deity.

The two drafts penned by Lincoln (the Nicolay and Hay copies) prior to the speech also do not include “under God”.
