The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) issued the following statement regarding enrollment in health plans on the Exchanges set up under the Affordable Care Act (ACA or "ObamaCare"):
"The Exchanges destroy privacy. Once entered, your information becomes available to a myriad of government agencies. And there is no taking it back. Moreover, the Exchanges are susceptible to hacking by identity thieves and other criminals. Some sites posing as Exchange sites may not be ACA sites at all, just fronts for criminal operations.
"Navigators and Assisters are not necessarily trustworthy. They have minimal training, and do not need to undergo a criminal background check. Agencies that employ them may previously have been found guilty of fraud.
"People who do manage to sign up for a plan also need to be wary about the plan itself. If the Exchange miscalculated your subsidy, you could receive a demand from the IRS to pay it back even though the insurer received it and you didn't.
"The doctor or hospital of your choice may not be available under the plan. Networks may be very narrow.

Yeah I read this somewhere else....
Next up ..."you need an internal passport to go out of your network area"....just like in the old Soviet Union.
I just posted this thought on another thread and I believe it needs to be explored much deeper.
HealthCare.gov is a wholly different website.
Its primary purpose is to provide subsidies.
In order to do this, they need to connect with a dozen or so other government agencies and not only verify user data inputs, but swap data.
The fact is, that individuals can buy insurance without using the exchange.
Just call the provider directly and enroll.
The exchange is once again, ALL ABOUT THE SUBSIDIES AND COLLECTING INFORMATION ON INDIVIDUAL AMERICANS.
In addition.
I find it very curious that this administration is NOT TELLING people that they can call these providers DIRECTLY.
I suspect there is a provision in the law that would preclude the insurance providers from collecting money from the government if an individual has not been registered with the exchange.
Insurance companies should include this warning in their cancellation notices.

Further, if you end up on an exchange you better never consult you doctor about any depression or other psychological symptoms you think you may be having. The same goes if you thing you may be drinking too much. This will allow the government to end your second amendment rights. Also, if a health care provider EVER asks you if you own any firearms - just say NO.
You are absolutely right about that. I am a disabled vet and every time I visit the VA for treatment of an injury, (Read: physical injury) they always ask me how I feel emotionally, psychologically, and mentally. I always respond, that has nothing to do with my VA disability. They respond, "Well I have to ask."

Yes, without a doubt.
Please consider the implications of my post #4.
Set aside the issue of privacy.
I’m talking about the government, this administration making a biggest crony capitalist deal ever.
Question:
Why aren’t insurance companies advertising that they can enroll people DIRECTLY ?
Why isn’t this WH telling people that they can enroll DIRECTLY ? (bypassing the troubled website)
I suspect that the insurance companies are counting on receiving money from the government in order to fulfill their “new obligations” under the ACA.
I want to know if the policies that are secured “OUTSIDE OF THE EXCHANGE” are somehow “EXCLUDED” from government subsidies.
Subsidies to be paid to insurance companies.
I talked to Primetime and they say that enrolling directly, could cost you your return credit from the gov’t.
All of it sounds very dicey to me.
This is insane.
Exactly.
They want you to go through the exchange.
They are counting on the government/tax payers to foot the bill when it comes to paying doctors etc..
Once again, I suspect that there is something buried in this train wreck that precludes the government from paying insurance companies in order to offset the cost of actual services vs. premiums, if those policies have NOT been facilitated through the “exchange”.
Over the course of this debacle, I have found the actions and words of both this administration and the insurance companies to be lacking a common sense solution.
ENROLL DIRECTLY !!!
Individuals can satisfy the Mandate, but for some reason both the government and the insurers are avoiding this solution.
The biggest reason they don’t want people to go directly to the insurance company is that the rates will be unadjusted by the government subsidy which results in sticker shock for the average welfare-dependent moocher Democrat voter. For the middle class there will not be any subsidy so it will not matter to most WORKING people. I agree they also want to control the access and gain the info.
Yes, but there is more.
Subsidies for individuals is a given.
Subsidies for insurance companies is what I’m talking about.
Listen up Freepers, that is exactly what they r doing at the Indian Clinic too. (Native-American Healthcare by the Federal Gov.). I am familiarizing myself with it b/c I just know that next year we will b thrown into the exchanges but I will b forced into the Indian Clinic since I already have a card. But I may as well get used to it, cuz if we don’t get this law repealed, all healthcare for us peons will be like the Indian clinic.
All of the info, including that from insurers, has to go through Healthcare.gov. In fact, the insurers are being taxed something like 3.8% for access and use of Healthcare.com. And, that tax can be passed on to the sheeple.
Then this is exactly what I suspected.
The insurance companies are deep in bed with this law.
This is the ultimate in “Crony Capitalism” and with Insurance Companies no less.
You would think a honest insurance company hating liberal would have figured this out.
The insurance companies did jump in bed with Obama, but I am certain a substantial threat was put to them prior to. Ugly all around.
