WellPoint CEO Says Obamacare Sign-Ups Still ‘Anemic’

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2013/11/19/wellpoint-ceo-says-obamacare-sign-ups-still-anemic/?mod=WSJ_hpp_LEFTTopStories

“I’ll be very candid, we have pulled back from marketing, not knowing how to get people enrolled at the moment,” Joseph Swedish, WellPoint’s chief executive, said in an interview at the WSJ CEO Council Tuesday.

Why in the world would they not be promoting their services ?

Do THEY NEED the government ?

Are they (the insurance companies) pushing people into buying through the exchange ?

Even though I can achieve the mandate if I secure a plan without them ?

Questions for him and other insurance providers:

Can people enroll, with your company without going through the Government exchange/website ?

If I already have a policy with your company, will there be a time in the future that YOU will REQUIRE me to go through the government run exchange ?

Why ?

Even if you or I make changes to the policy I currently have, if I want to re-new my policy with your company, can I do so outside of the government exchange ?

Why not ?

Are you being paid a "kick back" or "subsidy" only from/for those policies that go through the government exchange ?

People are missing a huge point here.

Why aren’t there a no-stop flood of ACA approved insurers advertising an alternative to healthcare.gov ?

Why do THEY need me to go through the exchange when I don’t need too, in order to comply with the mandate ?

healthcare.gov is where you get the subsidies. Can’t get them on the insurers’ sites.
