Early and absentee voters oppose the proposed abortion ban by a margin of nearly 12 points, according to unofficial totals just posted by election workers.

About 56 percent of the ballots counted so far are against the ban, and 44 percent are in favor. None of the Election Day votes have been tallied yet.

About 59,000 people voted early or absentee.

Not looking good so far - hope the Sunday church push brought out voters today.

Nmm, what percentage of the early voters are still living?
How many absentee voters only voted once?

America is in a pretty sorry state when a majority of Americans want to slaughter their children.

May God help us.

Good question - those that vote in person have to show picture ID.

You have to show ID to vote here so that has ended quite a bit of that.

The absentee are not just counted, they are verified first and we had a very large purging of the voter rolls just a couple years ago. So that helped a lot.

I’m shocked. I really thought the heavy Catholic/Hispanic population would carry the day.

Was there much publicity - by either side - leading up to the election?

Lots of fancy ads by the abortion supporters - women’s choice, control over their own bodies, etc. Typical commercials by the Planned Parenthood types.

I can imagine someone convincing themselves to be lazy and not vote in this election. But how could someone actually take the affirmative action of voting to protect the practice of killing late term babies?

If they do vote against the ban, how could a person of conscience continue to live in a city full of killers?

I’m a little surprised, but this is a narcissistic world we live in, where everyone’s self interests come first, and matters like respect for life, much less reverence for life get pushed aside. I would think five months would be more than enough time for a woman to decide whether or not she wants to sacrifice her baby for herself.

WTH is with the title. ‘Pain Capable Unborn Child Ordinance’?
Typical governmentese-— what makes them think an unborn child doesn’t feel pain younger than 20 weeks gestation?
They yawn, suck their thumbs and kick among other movements.
My bet is that they dang sure can feel pain prior to 20 weeks.

I agree with you tflabo, I’m sure there is pain felt before 20 weeks, but that is what the measure was called, probably because the whole first part of the proposed legislation went into pain and how it’s been proven that an unborn child can feel pain at 20 weeks.

Jane, some publicity by the anti-abortion people but much outweighed by the abortion crowd. Money came in from all over, including ACORN or whatever name that organization is going by these days.

Would be helpful if groups like Herioc Media and other Pro-life groups were able to flood the airwaves on this very important vote :-(

Yes it would have been and I know there was some spending, but I don’t think they had the budgets the other big name groups had.

Also the Atty General has said the ban is unenforceable and they may have been looking at that, not sure if they do, just an idea.
