As Americans have begun shopping for health plans on the insurance exchanges, they are discovering that insurers are restricting their choice of doctors and hospitals in order to keep costs low, and that many of the plans exclude top-rated hospitals.
The Obama administration made it a priority to keep down the cost of insurance on the exchanges, the online marketplaces that are central to the Affordable Care Act. But one way that insurers have been able to offer lower rates is by creating networks that are far smaller than what most Americans are accustomed to.
The decisions have provoked a backlash. In one closely watched case, Seattle Childrens Hospital has filed suit against Washingtons insurance commissioner after a number of insurers kept it out of their provider networks. It is unprecedented in our market to have major insurance plans exclude Seattle Childrens, said Sandy Melzer, senior vice president.
The result, some argue, is a two-tier system of health care: Many of the people who buy health plans on the exchanges have fewer hospitals and doctors to choose from than those with coverage through their employers.

a lot of them have narrower networks of doctors and hospitals than the health plans most Americans are used to
....Yeah....and restricted networks.....so setting the stage for "internal passports" for anyone wanting to venture outside their allocated "network area"...just like in the old Soviet Union.

And just wait till they start issuing orders to the doctors to match client with the care required....and prescriptions....don't forget all those complex prescription orders.

And so you have an acute appendix....?
Mark Wattson, 35, from Swindon may have been the victim of botched surgery after he had to have his appendix removed twice
To his shock, surgeons from the same team told him that not only was his appendix still inside him, but it had ruptured - a potentially fatal complication.
In a second operation it was finally removed, leaving Mr Wattson fearing another organ might have been taken out during the first procedure.
The blunder has left Mr Wattson jobless, as bosses at the shop where he worked did not believe his story and sacked him.
Mr Wattson told of the moment he realised there had been a serious mistake.
'I was lying on a stretcher in terrible pain and a doctor came up to me and said that my appendix had burst,' he said.
'I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I told these people I had my appendix out just four weeks earlier but there it was on the scanner screen for all to see.
'I thought, "What the hell did they slice me open for in the first place?"
'I feel that if the surgery had been done correctly in the first place I wouldn't be in the mess I am today. I'm disgusted by the whole experience.'
Mr Wattson first went under the knife on July 7 after experiencing severe abdominal pain for several weeks. He was discharged but exactly a month later he had to dial 999 after collapsing in agony. Mr Wattson
Mr Wattson was readmitted to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon after his appendix ruptured.

130,000 elderly patients killed every year by death pathway, claims leading UK doctor

LONDON, June 21, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An eminent British doctor told a meeting of the Royal Society of Medicine in London that every year 130,000 elderly patients that die while under the care of the National Health Service (NHS) have been effectively euthanized by being put on the controversial Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP), a protocol for care of the terminally ill that he described as a death pathway.
Sit back and enjoy your Obamacare.
Don’t have too much sympathy for the hospitals who successfully lobbied to ban doctor owned specialty outpatient facilities and hospitals which provide better service cheaper.
The USA about 6 times the population of UK....
so equivalent figures are 780,000 euthanized a year in the USA.
Knew that was coming. So what does the 2300 pages of ACA law and the now 10,000 pages of regulations say about the above?
Patients should check with their local high schools and colleges to see if they offer free or low cost courses in third world foreign languages, including: Pakistani, Spanish, Indian, French, etc. so they can best communicate with their assigned health care professional.

This is so true. My wife over the past 3 yrs has had an Indian internist, Pakistani Pulmonologist and now another Indian internist. She has COPD and her newest Dr. only went over history, labs and talked to her this last visit. Never even broke out the stethescope to listen to her lungs or heart, just renewed some prescriptions. The nurse spends more time getting vitals and list of medications than the Dr spends. I am sure they will bill the customary $300.00 plus for the visit. She has real problems understanding their sometimes thick accents. This is a very rural area with only 1 hospital. Finding non foreign physicians is practically impossible, the US Dr’s in the area stay fully booked up.
“Dont have too much sympathy for the hospitals who successfully lobbied to ban doctor owned specialty outpatient facilities and hospitals which provide better service cheaper.”
I couldn’t agree more.
oh that’s too funny.....but probably very true.
OK, this confirms my suspicions. The MAIN BENEFACTORS of obamacare are lawyers.
Followed closely by insurance companies.
Patients? What do we get?
How long before the Dems propose taking Obamacare premiums out of the peoples PAYCHECKS, like they started doing shortly after implementing the income tax? You know it is coming!
