I don’t know about SD, but here in IA Wellmark BC/BS is NOT participating in Obamacare exchanges this year. It claims it intends to participate for the 2015 year market. Also its managed to extend its individual and small group plans through 2014 under the pre-Obamacare rules. I don’t know how it managed to do that, but as a result of that and of them having about 80% of those markets in Iowa relatively few cancelation notices are going out in Iowa this fall. It doesn’t sound like they can hold off Obamacare beyond 2014 though absent true fixes or further Obama hocus pocus.
