Senate Dems weaken GOP power with major filibuster rule change

Senate Democrats bowled over Republicans on Thursday to win approval for a highly controversial rule change which would limit the GOP's ability to block nominees.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, moving quickly following days of speculation, used the so-called "nuclear option" to pass the change. Typically, major changes like this take 67 votes, but he did it with just a simple majority.

With Republicans fuming, the change weakens the power of the minority to stall nominations for top positions. Instead of needing 60 votes to break a filibuster, the change means Democrats will now need just 51.

I'm thinking Dingy Harry will "cave to the pressure" and change the rule back in the lame duck period of the Dems lose in 2014, '16 or as long as he is emitting green house gas on this earth.

I agree. It's Dingy Harry's "scorched earth policy."

How so?

Democrats will not always be in the majority. The change may come as soon as next year.

The Democrats know their time is short and that by this next time next year they will no longer be in the majority.

The purpose of this at this particular time is to distract from Obamacare failure. Obama struts out to endorse the Reid’s Nuclear Option in an effort to rev up the demoralized democrat base. They will regret this.

“Good. Let’s get majorities in both Houses and win the Presidency.”

Won’t happen.
In the Spring, the Republicans of Boehner, Cantor, McCain, and Graham will cave in on amnesty and it will be all over.

Obama, Pelosi, and Reid will have free run of the country. You are about to know what it was to be an East German.

this level of corruption in DC will not just go away or get voted out

the obvious reality is that there is only one party in DC, the lawless establishment party and it takes its orders from the wealthy ruling elite.

Democrats are Trying to Pack...the Second Most Powerful Court in America

Harry Reid and Barack Obama are trying to pack the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals with left-leaning justices, namely Patricia Millett, Nina Pillard, and Robert Wilkins.

When people say, well we should sue and challenge, well when you sue and challenge you have to take it to a court. And so they want all these things that Obama's putting in place, thousands and thousands of regulations and not just related to healthcare but related to everything. They want them upheld, they wanna box you in, so you have no recourse whatsoever at least at that level. And so they're trying to stack, they're trying to pack the court in DC, and there was a time where Democrats who had enough concern about the integrity of our system where they would've objected to that.

We know there is nothing that can be done about it at the present time. The next election is the time for outrage. .

It is and I am foaming at the mouth. DC is a malignant city-state. Obama/Reid have declared war on the Free and the Brave.

And what will stop the Republicans from changing it back? What Reid/Obama did today is beyond the pale. They have declared war on the Free and the Brave.

I no doubt think they will. and the only thing that will keep it that way will be RINO's. But this is more reason for people to vote Tea Party candidates in - which have a good chance of being the majority in the Republican Party in 2014!
