Why Aren't Millennials Marching In The Street Over Obamacare?
Forbes ^ | 21 November 2013 | Chris Conover

Anyone with a conscience should be offended by the greatest generational theft ever witnessed in the history of the world. Young Americans—especially the Millennial generation born between 1977 and 1995—are the biggest losers in this battle, but it will adversely affect their children and grandchildren to boot. Obamacare simply represents the latest front in this war, which now rages from Social Security to Medicare to this deeply flawed law that is imploding as we speak.

Let’s be clear: by design, this law can work if and only if enough young people are willing to pay premiums far higher than are actuarially fair in order to subsidize workers my age who on average earn far more than the young workers who are subsidizing them. Even if one takes into account that Millennials in the long run eventually will become old themselves and benefit from these subsidies, Obamacare still is an extraordinarily bad deal that effectively would force today’s 18-year olds to pay 18 percent more for their medical care over a lifetime than if each generation paid its own way. Such an age-related tax is unconscionable. Imagine if sales taxes or income taxes included a surcharge for everyone who happened to be a twenty-something. If this idea sounds preposterous, welcome to Obamacare.

I'll hazard to guess that most millenials voted for Obama so perhaps they have enough sense not to march in the street against Obamacare? They would be the laughing stock of the nation if they did.

You give them too much credit; from my dealings with them I’d wager they have no idea how it will impact them (yet). Heck, Obama might just exempt them anyway; more likely they’ll qualify for freebies since so few have worthwhile work.

They already marched in the streets, appropriately painted their faces like zombies, and demanded the government take care of them.

The TV and the Celebrity Twitter feeds haven’t told them they should be angry about this.

Because Millennials are the shrug-their-shoulders-whatever cynical generation. They have no grasp of what this country is all about and give into their whims and desires. As long as they’re getting their X-Box, free porn and what-not, they’re “happy.”

That’s my biased opinion. I have never seen a sadder group of people, even before O-care.

*OKAY, call me a curmudgeon! Fine!

The sad truth is that they know Uncle Sam will eventually pick up the tab for their health care..

Yeah, they don’t know, yet . . . and even if they did, pride won’t let them do anything otherwise.

They're too busy playing video games in mommy and daddy's basement to really give a rats ass.

Moochers. They're a lost generation IMO.

My millennial neighbors are good kids. They go to college classes and study. I do not think they listen to politics.

Millennial generation starts in the early 80’s, not in 1977.

Seriously? These kids love Obama. they are Liberal. They are more Liberal than any group of Youth in history.

I wonder if people pay attention. Explains the mess we are in.

They have been bred and “educated” to support the left and all its evils. They are programmed to see all things conservative or advocating individual responsibility and freedom as evil. Some will wake up, but many would throw themselves into the fires of hell if Obama ordered it. In effect, they need to be deprogrammed on a massive scale before they will take up the torches and pitchforks that are needed to save themselves and this country.

I’ll hazard a guess that most of them have no idea how their government works, that they even have recourse to peacefully protest.

Like Obama, they don’t care to know.
