Why Aren't Millennials Marching In The Street Over Obamacare?
Forbes ^ | 21 November 2013 | Chris Conover

Anyone with a conscience should be offended by the greatest generational theft ever witnessed in the history of the world. Young Americans—especially the Millennial generation born between 1977 and 1995—are the biggest losers in this battle, but it will adversely affect their children and grandchildren to boot. Obamacare simply represents the latest front in this war, which now rages from Social Security to Medicare to this deeply flawed law that is imploding as we speak.

Let’s be clear: by design, this law can work if and only if enough young people are willing to pay premiums far higher than are actuarially fair in order to subsidize workers my age who on average earn far more than the young workers who are subsidizing them. Even if one takes into account that Millennials in the long run eventually will become old themselves and benefit from these subsidies, Obamacare still is an extraordinarily bad deal that effectively would force today’s 18-year olds to pay 18 percent more for their medical care over a lifetime than if each generation paid its own way. Such an age-related tax is unconscionable. Imagine if sales taxes or income taxes included a surcharge for everyone who happened to be a twenty-something. If this idea sounds preposterous, welcome to Obamacare.

Millenials are very politically coddled and naive, being a generation that grew up after the cold war. They have never known a police state anywhere. They have never known extreme oppression, or people risking their lives to get out of some country. If they know about the Rwandan genocide or Ethiopian starvation, it is a paragraph in a history book.

They think everything has been fixed already, and this leads them into a "Progressive" mindset that things only get better. They simply don't believe how bad things can get, especially due to "Progressives".

Boomers who can afford it just aren’t signing up. I think this will be how the silent majority responds, well should I say silent majority of the employed...

We can’t afford it, but we aren’t going to sign up. What is the point of a premium when you can’t afford the deductible?

Right now we have employer based insurance. We figure that after the first of the year they will dump us.

They would be the laughing stock of the nation if they did.

Hint: They are already a laughing stock. "Millennial" is just another punchline like Gen-X/Y/Z already is.

The drone generations.............

Like, you know, Duh.....Math is, like, HARD dude!

Judging from the Obamacare ads, they’re too busy screwing and getting drunk to notice.

I’d say they haven’t really been sticker-shocked yet. They don’t plan to sign up this year. The penalty is too low to bother with. They’ll wait until they penalty gets large enough to take notice. Then they’l be shocked, but it will be too late by then. When we needed them to rise up and stand with us, they don’t have a clue yet. When they get that clue, there’ll be nothing anybody can do. You think that was planned this way? You betcha!

You people need to stop this. You are alienating the few of us who DO side with you and dislike what is happening in this country. I’m sick of being judged by people who only seem to be able to digest the stereotypes fed to them by the media about my generation. And y’all say we’re the ones brainwashed.

As for Obamacare, I’m not signing up for it. If civil disobedience is what it takes to sink this law I will gladly pay the 1% of income penalty (which increases annually, so I’ve read) for the pleasure of watching it crash and burn.

Obama is a farce, and so is most of Congress.
