Hiding ObamaCare Pain From Voters
Investor's Business Daily ^ | November 23, 2013 | IBD EDITORIALS

Politics: In another naked attempt to protect Democrats from ObamaCare, the administration plans to delay next year's exchange enrollment until after the elections, so they can hide another round of rate shocks from voters.

Health and Human Services announced on Thursday that next year's open enrollment period won't start until Nov. 15, which conveniently puts it after the midterm elections. An administration official said the delay "will give issuers the benefit of more time to evaluate their experiences during the 2014 plan year."

Please. This is nothing more than a political move designed to minimize ObamaCare's damage to Democrats.

By delaying open enrollment until Nov. 15, the administration can keep consumers in the dark about the prices they'll have to pay in the ObamaCare exchanges before they go to the polls. That, in turn, could spare Democrats another round of rate shock stories in the run-up to the elections.

This is hardly the first time Obama has tried to mask the dark side of ObamaCare for political reasons.

His payback is coming and it will be from his own party. All that nasty divisive hatred he’s stirred up in this country will be aimed directyly at him like a laser.

The economy....Obama doesn't think what this can do to the economy...

Put more eggs than you can afford in one basket....and you can't buy the bread and bacon to go with it.

He's killing other markets. That's what communism does....makes everything state owned.

Delaying the enrollment won’t stop the cancellation letters for millions more.

If the disastrous roll-out of its new Edsel model had driven the CEO of the Ford Motor Company so insane he couldn’t face reality, he would have adamantly refused to discontinue the model but instead have ordered that next year’s Edsel version be rolled-out a month later in the year so that people would have a longer time to appreciate how wonderful the Edsel really was.

Obama is insane to believe that the 93% of Americans who don’t support ObamaCare as it’s being rolled out this year will embrace it next year.

Oh how I wish I could say that the American electorate was too smart to fall for this sort of thing...

Ha Ha Ha, Sorry, I shouldn’t laugh but I cant help it, I’m British.

It seems that the old saying that the Americans do everything BIGGER than anybody else, cars, skyscrapers, meal sizes, national healthcare provision screw-ups, is spot on.

I didn’t think anybody could make a bigger cockup of a national health service than successive British governments over the years, but Obama seems to have managed admirably!!

You can be sure that there is a regulation somewhere in the tens of thousands of pages of FuboCare regulations that make it ILLEGAL for insurers to release rates or send out cancellation letters before the open season begins.

He’s changing the law again! If he delays rate publications until after the election, the House must impeach. Up to 100 million people with employer based plans need to know what their rates will be before the mid term elections. If the moronic GOPe can’t see this, they are absolutely complicit with the dictatorship.

How do they think they can hide this stuff? Why did they think they could hide it in the first place?

They are looking at having a REAL DISASTER on their hands if they aren’t able to enroll these people who got their policies cancelled by Jan 1.

We may have day after day of stories about sick people who weren’t able to obtain new coverage and are now looking at real damage to their health as a result.

That would make me happy due to its effect on Obama; but I will feel very bad for those people.

Obamacare is the ultimate knock-out punch to the USA. Obama knows this. It doesn’t matter to him if Obamcare works or not: The punch has already been thrown. Democrats stand around and laugh at our wounded nation.

Yes, we screw up on exceeding even the screw-ups of the British Empire. We even managed to make a bad situation in the Middle East (a legacy of the Empire) even worse.

And when Europe breaks in a war again, this time we will, hopefully arm both sides and stay home.

Ray, I am not an historian, just a 50+ warehouse worker,I don’t deny that the British don’t screw things up, The biggest was getting rid of what made Britain great, the Empire it self.

British government after government seem to have been hell bent on dragging a once proud nation down in to the gutter of the lowest common denominator where the needs the minority out weigh the needs of the majority.

Actually, I was trying to say that we screwed up worse than the Brits in the ME, but part of what screwed us up were the legacies of the British Empire.

In fact, if’n I were President of the USA, I'd want the Brits to handle the diplomatic end of things in the ME, since they seem to have the diplomatic jujitsu thing down pat, or at least they used to to.

The US needs to stop trying to play the "great game" type diplomacy where we use utter monsters like the Moslem Brotherhood and Al Qaeda to check a Shi'ia Caliphate from Iran (or whatever), and simply deal straight. We need to be predictable, honorable, reliable, and terrifying in that, if you cross or betray us, an extinction event soon follows.
