The fact that someone is on a road does not constitute reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed, resulting in a lawful detainment.

“Am I being detained on reasonable suspicion, officer? If so, what is the reasonable suspicion? If not, am I free to go?”

I would change your questions to reflect “_objective_ and reasonable suspicion”.

As opposed to “subjective suspicion”.

True story. Had a friend stopped for speeding, the officer indicated he “smelled” marijuana smoke (buddy has just stubbed out a cigarette). My buddy showed the officer the crushed filter and asked him when was the “last time his nose was calibrated for weed”?

Speeding ticket, he got. Car search...nope.
