Has a U.S. senator from LA ever been unseated? The last may have been in 1930, when Governor Huey Pierce Long, Jr., defeated Sen. Joseph E. Ransdell. I am not sure if there has been one since. In other words, people in LA rarely retire a U.S. senator.
