A number of news outlets have reported that Angola has "banned" Islam and started to dismantle mosques in a bold effort to stem the spread of Muslim extremism.

Weekly French-language Moroccan newspaper La Nouvelle Tribune published an article on Friday sourcing "several" Angolan officials, including the Southwest African nation's minister of culture, Rosa Cruz, who reportedly offered the following remarks, which have been translated from French: "The process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. Their mosques would be closed until further notice."

The media reports have not described why Islam would need to be legalized, considering its presence in the country for many years.

Mods: Although there are a few threads on the subject, this is one whose source is a major media outlet. And any country banning Islam should be considered major breaking news.

We tried it, didn’t work. Was called the Crusades. Not to say it shouldn’t be an idea revisited

“colonization” was considered a bad thing when the West did it but when Saudi and other governments fund Islamic colonization (including funding the construction of mosques) no one bats an eyelash of concern.

The Left was ok with global Communist colonization as well.

Liberalism is a lie.

Moderator: how come this article was taken off “breaking news”? A major media outlet reporting a country has banned Islam doesn’t count as breaking news?

Angola has “banned” Islam and started to dismantle mosques

What a wonderful initiative

I hope to see it repeated and mirrored in the United States of America

Wherever Islam has a foothold either other religions are defacto banned and it is illegal to construct new churches or synagogues or the minority religions and people are treated like dhimmis with severe restrictions or bans on building construction, propagation of the faith, etc. i.e., Sharia law.
I guess their treating it like the spread of Nazi ideology.

The downfall & collapse of the Soviet Union began with a hole in a border fence in Central Europe.

May the downfall of the world Islamic terror empire begin with a lone Christian nation in Africa.

I appluad the effort, however, they have probably invited a whole new level of terror into their Country. There are going to be stories of bombings, rapes, and beheadings in Angola soon.

hard to believe it’s Angola , of all places . Formerly the hardcore client of Cuba , full of Cuban and east German military advisers and outright troops and air crews . Often invaded and fought with by South African & Rhodesian special forces , over Angola’s harboring of anti S.A. guerrilla groups . A land of noble mercenaries and intrigues . Lots of diamonds .
