The prosecutor who led the investigation into the Newtown school shooting says it did not determine a motive for the attack.
State’s Attorney Stephen Sedensky III says there is also no clear indication why he chose Sandy Hook Elementary School as the target for his rampage other than the fact that it was close to his home.
“The purpose of the investigation was to determine what crimes had been committed and whether anyone will be prosecuted as a result of those crimes. Based on a painstaking investigation it is determined that there will be no arrests or prosecutions.....
“With the release of this report today the investigation is closed, and no additional release of information or documents by this office is anticipated.”
He said the gunman, Adam Lanza, had significant mental health issues that affected his ability to live a normal life and interact with others but did not affect his mental state for the crimes.
The report said police went into the school within minutes of the first shots being fired and that along with the actions of teachers inside saved many children’s lives.
“I think, primarily, this report will be a very factual, straightforward recitation of facts that may be known already but in their overall impact .... and I hope create some additional momentum for gun violence prevention,” said Conn. Sen. Richard Blumenthal....
The summary report provides some of the first official answers to questions about the history of the gunman and the police response to one of the worst school shootings in American history.....

There is a persistent story that Lanza did not use an AR in ths massacre. The delay in getting this out and the security around the children’s autopsies have fueled this story.
The report concludes that this guy could not function in normal society. Will anything be done to detect and restrict the thousands of others similarly situated who are out there ready willing and able to do harm BY ANY MEANS that they can find? No way, the ACLU will eagerly protect them. Because of that fundamental reality this type of madness will happen again gun or no gun. Meanwhile in Chicago, every damn day is Sandy Hook.
While this is unquestionably a fast response time, six minutes waiting for assistance with a mad man running loose is an eternity. If there had been some at the school who was armed, or a couple of people who were armed the tragic casualty rate might have been reduced.

The initial report said that he shot and killed himself at 9:46. This has him killing himself 6 minutes earlier at 9:40.
An article here yesterday had the first officer arriving at 9:37:30 and waiting for the others to arrive.
Their timeline is off from what was last reported.
No wonder they don’t want to release the 911 calls.
“-—did not affect his mental state for the crimes.” I was taking the write-up as factual until I read that. Nuts is nuts. What is this blowhard saying? The punk was nuts but not too crazy to do the shooting? His folks knew he was nuts. People who harbor these Hinckley types are just as responsible for the outcome as the nutcases are, in my view.

9:35:53 a.m. - Dispatch: “Sandy Hook School, Caller’s indicated she thinks someone is shooting in the building.”
9:36:15: “The individual I have on the phone is continuing to hear what he believes to be gun shots.”
9:38:10: “The shooting appears to have stopped. The school is in lock down.”
9:38:50: “We’ll stage up the SWAT and go from there.”

Fortunately, we have this little thing called “innocent until proven guilty”, so no, nothing will be done to stop “pre-crime”.
I'm tired of hearing that the drugs made them functional. They made them appear to be functional. Clearly they still malfunction (or cannot be trusted to keep to their prescription on their own).
When you’ve already been analyzed and (as with the Batman shooter) come out to your analyst that you want to kill, you’ve given up that bit of freedom.
HYPOTHETICALLY, call the police and tell them that you are going to kill people then see if they just wait until AFTER you’ve done it.

Just like the downed TSA Agent @ LAX laying on the floor for 33 minutes “because the area was not safe,” when the shooter had been shot a hundred yards away in the gate area five minutes after he has shot the agent. The LEO’s today are not willing to be “first responders.” They want to save their own asses at all cost. Sure glad they aren’t in the military today.
According to the left, allowing a few tiny children to get killed is a small price to pay for the continuance of their ideology.
Of course you can be arrested for making threats, but that isn’t what I’m talking about. The original poster wanted to detect and restrict people like Lanza, but most of those people are not making threats... so there is no grounds to lock them up until they commit a crime.
When you have yourself committed to analysis and medicinal treatment, you’ve been classified as mentally unstable.
Moreover, even giving them their 6 minute response time, I suspect that this 6 minute response time is far below the average response time of LE. This was a small town. No traffic, no other emergencies, short actual travel time, and it STILL took them 6 minutes to respond at the scene. Now factor in a rural, hard-to-find place, or a place with traffic, building, or other impediments and the emergency response is probably closer to 20 minutes.
Everything in this case came to its tragic conclusion in 11 short, yet enduring, minutes. This is a prime example why there should be carry on schools and “gun-free” zones are really sitting-duck zones.
That was the story and is the current version but a contrary story that he used some other weapon will not go away. The autopsies seem to be ambivalent regarding the nature of the wounds.
