Actually, health insurance has been bizarre for awhile. Insurance is not meant to cover choices that aren't necessary expenditures. Its purpose is to cover situations that can't be anticipated and would be a financial burden if they occurred.

For government to force unwanted terms on one party for the unearned benefit of another violates a fundamental principle of contract law, and effectively makes the State a party to all private contracts and in effect, the ultimate owner of all property.
