Sure, you’re correct. Conservatives are NOT in control though. Many times we come out on top simply because the issues of the day run up on election cycles.
The moderates poll and do the big...oh crap right before the primaries and begin adjusting their message to keep power.
Case in point....remember the whole, (build the border fence) push before congressional elections some years back?
After the elections were done....republicans/democrats voted to cut appropriations for the entire project. Smoke and mirrors.
