Marking the latest HealthCare.gov setback, the Obama administration today will announce a yearlong delay of online enrollment for small businesses looking to purchase health coverage through federal-run exchanges, according to an HHS notice obtained by POLITICO.
Small businesses have been able to apply through paper applications since Oct. 1, and HHS will announce alternative sign-up methods, like enrolling through an agent or broker or directly through an insurer.
Weve concluded that we can best serve small employers by continuing this offline process while we concentrate on both creating a smoothly functioning online experience in the SHOP Marketplace, and adding key new features, including an employee choice option and premium aggregation services, by November 2014, according to the HHS notice.
A spokeswoman for HHS did not respond to requests for comment this morning.
The administration originally delayed online enrollment in the federal-run small-businesses exchanges, known as SHOP, just days before the failed Oct. 1 launch of HealthCare.gov. At the time, HHS said online enrollment would be available sometime in November. Weeks ago, administration officials said online enrollment would be ready by the end of November.
The delay applies only to the federal-run SHOP exchanges in almost three dozen states. With a few exceptions, SHOPs in states running their own exchanges have had a smoother rollout.
And Obama continues to implement the law any way he wants without challenge.
The creepy little liberal liars want to push the bad news past the election. More bait and switch... more cover up - more incompetence.
Must be tacky to be a democrat.
Technology always regresses in 3rd world communist countries.
Nah, it's easy, as long as you have a complicit media and a craven and cowed political opposition party.
They are asking supporters not to rush the website on the 30th. I think those of us who want this whole Administration to fail in this attempt at socialization of our health care should do our best to try and log on as many times as we can. Clog up the whole system!
Delay has nothing to do with the web site. That could have been fixed already if they hired someone who knew what they where doing.
The Delay is due to rate shock. They have an election coming up.
Priceless, if this were a company, its CEO and the board would be fired and history by now, its beyond a total joke now.......seriously, you are the leader of the free world and you can’t get a website to work...one word SCARY.
It will make it worse, them pushing it to next Nov will just make the uncertainty even worse as no one will know what is coming. Tsunami building against the Dems.
Math is hard.
But SHOP is set up and running on state run Obamacare exchange websites. There will be rate shock there.
Even if the demwits delay it, I can’t imagine them wanting to be in office when the public comes hunting them down after the full effect of commiecare kicks in.
ANYTHING to get this debacle past the Nov 2014 elections. This election is shaping up to be a huge crash for the RAT party.
The longer they delay this,The closer we get to complete victory in 2016. More delays mean this law does incredible damage in 2015. If the LOV’s are stupid enough to leave dems in charge of the senate next year, then they have dug this hole themselves. The only way we get rid of this thing is with a veto proof senate. We don’t get it, then we go all in, in 2016.

Lol.....if there are spikes in healthcare.gov traffic, consumers will be put in a new “advanced queue”.
Yeah we know how this is gonna work out....that’ll pack them in, a nice queue.
But but... but what about the “optics” of shutting down 17% of the govt?
I am retracting my earlier guesstimate of 1k/mth premiums for 2015. The same people who promised the website would work by Nov 30th are now able to look out into next year and know the small business app won’t work until after the election?
2015 avg premium= $2000/mth (after subsidies)
Can u imagine voting online like the libs want to do??
