Yesterday at a Thanksgiving Dinner, the man whose house hosted it told me that at the same time the US Embassy was taken over, the Russian embassy was also occupied. He said this was a little known fact.

He said the Russians immediately promised the Iranians that their country would cease to exist if they did not release the Russian hostages. The Iranians took that threat seriously and released them all.

I always took that and the Soviet response as a given fact. He should put that story in a book and sell it.
