Shark attack victim Zac Young prayed with mates before dying (Australia)
The Australian ^ | DECEMBER 02, 2013 | ROSIE LEWIS AND RICK MORTON

Posted on 12/01/2013 12:11:37 PM PST by Dundee

AS 19-year-old bodyboarder Zac Young was being pulled to shore, bleeding heavily from a shark attack, he turned to his good mate Kurt Gillan and prayed.

"He passed away peacefully, no pain, with his last words to me being: 'I love you brother'," Mr Gillan, 18, wrote on Facebook yesterday.

"He began to pray 'please God, my lord and Saviour, help protect my friends and help me through this time of need'. He then went unconscious."

Mr Young died on Saturday afternoon at Reicks Point, north of Coffs Harbour, 540km north of Sydney. The Port Macquarie local had just passed his driving test and was on a surfing road-trip with Mr Gillan and two other mates.

..."We had to paddle knowing there was an eight-foot tiger shark underneath us while trying to get him in," Lindsy said. "But we knew if we didn't get him in, he would be at the bottom of the ocean."

The trio are part of the close-knit surfing community of Port Macquarie, 390km north of Sydney, which held an emotional memorial service yesterday at Mr Young's local church. "These three young guys didn't run," Zac's father, Kevin, told a packed congregation. "I want you to know these three guys."

...Mr Malvern described a cheeky teenager who once struggled with the usual distractions of his peers but who had a "revelation" a few years ago, which prompted him to redesign the way he was living.

Mr Young's regular pastor, Steve Covetz of The Point Community Church, said the teen had already changed the world of those who knew him...

“Amen, may he surk the clouds of the heavenly sea.”

(from the Urban Dictionary)
SURK
v. surked, surk·ing, surk·in’, surks
1. To annoy one’s neighbor with any variety of unpleasant noises.
2. To drive or display an automobile with the owner’s name on the license plate.
3. To park a sub-$20K sports car (typically a fire-engine red Hyundai Genesis Coupe) across two parking spots.

I can only imagine the kind of unpleasant noises he’s making in heaven right now.

He rode through death to life again. He’ll be in bliss and love: that’s quite a rescue.

The ONLY “good” way to die is with the Lord God in your heart and His name on your lips....

Interesting thought…even Peter acted a bit different when on the waves….”Lord help” - the shortest prayer in the Bible...

Flight 93, 9/11: Tom Burnett Jr. spoke of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and prayed with the phone operator just before the plane went down in Shanksville.
