Obamacare insurance website up and running, gives sticker shock to Akron shopper

AKRON, Ohio - An estimated 800,000 people visited the new and improved www.healthcare.gov Monday to shop for affordable health insurance. But what one Akron woman got was a bad case of sticker shock.

"I thought it was supposed to help us," Liz Binns said in frustration. "I can't afford it. I cannot afford it."

Binns had been trying to navigate the government's health care website since October to find affordable insurance for her husband, a 60-year-old who has a pre-existing condition and whose job doesn't offer coverage.

What she finally found for him Monday carries a premium of more than $400 a month and a $5,000 annual deductible.

"How can I pay this kind of money out?" she asked. "It's going to take at least a second job and praying that I would make enough on a second job just to pay for this health insurance."(continued)

Ms Binns better prepare for an IRS audit.

Wonder how many of the Obot spinners have signed up. I expect the only people that are signing up now are the pre-condition folks, the illegals, and the poor. Although with the poor, probably less so, because they already have the game figured out.

The effect is to make the middle-class people pay for the insurance of others.

“I thought this was going to be the miracle for us,” she said, “and it’s not.”

Ahhh, the allure of the free lunch and of believing a story that is too good to be true...hence the term: snakeoil salesman. I hope she gets to realize that miracles come from God not government.

Ms. Binns, you must pay for people who are too proud, too lazy to work. This is the new world that Barkie has created.

(Well, all of this “sticker shock” should help send already slumping Christmas sales into a nosedive...already was 4% less spent over the 4-day Thanksgiving weekend vs. last year...e’en tho the final day of that weekend was but a mere 23 days pre-Christmas Eve)

“It’s going to take at least a second job and praying that I would make enough on a second job just to pay for this health insurance.””

That’s the idea, the Concentration/WorkCamp, with no AntiTrust action vs. the few roughly 8 financial heavily lobbied investment houses disquised as “insurers” in the fascist scheme.

What and where and who are these 8 investment houses that are getting the 85 BILLION A MONTH. And....isn’t it interesting no Republicans are inquiring as to WHERE THE HELL THIS MONEY IS GOING.

This QE is holding the whole ball of wax together, once it stops, the wax ball will explode like a grenade?

Three years ago, I was paying $499 a month for blue cross/blue shield with a $2000 deductible and I have NO pre-existing conditions and have had continuous coverage for 60 years or so.

Sounds like some of these people have not been in the health insurance loop for a while if they are surprised by the premium costs.

Something for nothing. That’s the draw. And when it turns out you have to pay, then complain like crazy. You knew someone would have to pay, you just didn’t know that the someone would be you.

And, of course, since the government is involved, you will pay more than you would otherwise have to pay. Because the government knows better than you what kind of coverage you need, and whether you can afford the premiums.

That’s socialism. That’s how the Democrats roll.

Keep voting for them. They have a lot more tricks up their sleeves after Obamacare. They’re going to take care of you.

Yes, that premium did not sound very high to me. But the deductible seems kind of large. With the ins. I was getting through my employer you generally did not have to satisfy a deductible unless you either saw an out-of-network doctor or were hospitalized. I don’t understand paying $400 or more a month and also having to satisfy a multi thousand dollar deductible.

The poor are signing up for Medicaid in droves. The more I think about it, the more it seems like this may have been the goal from the git-go. Basically, the poor and working poor will get Medicaid health insurance for free or totally subsidized insurance. In other words, it cements a majority of “needy” voters.

Everyone else will pay through the nose for worse coverage, but these are the 49% of the population who did not vote for Obama anyway.

Liz,

Sign up for Medicare - Why on earth would you shell out $400 a month for health insurance AND take a second job to pay for it?

If you do, you’re a sucker and I feel sorry for you! I pay $0 for my Medicaid coverage.

People are going to be freaking out all over once we get past 1/1/14. That’s when they have to start feeding their huge deductibles, and asking themselves why they even have insurance when they’re paying 100% of the bills. Most people won’t ever see bills add up high enough to meet the deductibles in a year, so they will get zero benefit from having a policy. Kid broke his arm? Mom and Dad pay the whole bill, and they still won’t meet the deductible.

The only people who are going to be happy are the slutty Flukes of the world, picking up their free birth control pills.

My policy was canceled. I’m 61 and just got a policy directly with the insurer with 1500 deductible, 80/20, and cost is about $450 a month. No pre-existing condition.

So I’d say this woman is getting a real deal and the rest of us are subsidizing what she thinks is an outrageous cost.

Yes, she must have been out of the loop of reality for some time.
