Should have instead in the long term, a bracket system just like college basketball in March.

Sure, the BCS has worked most of the time. But it did fail in 2004 when it matched USCw against Oklahoma instead of Auburn, and may well make another mistake this year selecting tOSU instead of the SEC champion.

8 team playoff; one team per conference, with no runners-up; all conferences must play complete round robins (the mega tv marketing syndicates will have to break up); automatic bids for five or six of the major conference champs, with two or three at-large bids for the best of the rest; random pairings with no seedings; flip a coin and play on the winner's home field.

And if this last means Florida or Florida State or USC has to play in Michigan Stadium on January 1 in sub-zero weather ... good. About time, after playing all these years more or less on their own home fields in front of their own home fans.

Nicely done! I was never a fan of the BCS but I think you did a nice job here.

First, the BCS is a playoff—a two team playoff.

The BCS seeding system is arguably objective. Roughly 160 voters in two polls means a few subjective opinions are diluted. The six computer poll results are averaged with the high and low ratings for each team thrown out, again reducing subjective influence. No doubt it could be improved further.

The “Plus One” or 4-team semifinal has been discussed since 2004.

The only issue I have with the College Football Playoff is the use of a committee to pick the teams. I would rather use something like the BCS poll system.
