Monterey Park Drops English-Letter Sign Ordinance

The council earlier this year decided to require signs to have some “modern Latin lettering” in addition to Chinese characters. It would have replaced an older law — since scrapped — requiring English words and letters on signs.

At least the characters are generally traditional, not the Chinese Communist simplified forced on Chinese people in China by the Communists.

They should all just add the following words to their signs:

No Round-eyes!

Originally the laws were enacted because emergency personnel, like fire department, could not tell if they were at the right address.

I have not been in that area for a loooooong time. I see they gave up.

I had a job in Monterey Park a long time ago. Even then the English signage was disappearing.

Everyone was very polite, some even pleasant. And they were quite willing to accept my patronage of their establishments.
