Anyway the Republicans are getting ready to help Obama destroy America with this dangerous treaty. This webpage's existence, Made In America on Food Products, Patents on life threatening surgeries and Generic Drugs will all be gone if this Treaty gets Fast Tracked. According to the Financial Times just released today, THE REPUBLICANS IN THE HOUSE HAVE STRUCK A DEAL WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA TO ALLOW ONLY 51 VOTES IN THE SENATE TO RATIFY THIS AMERICAN SOVEREIGNTY DESTROYING TREATY.

Bad enough that PRC boots on the ground in Hawaii is more than merely symbolic of that. Inviting enemy troops into your country means you’ve got an entrenched presence on your own soil.

Because the GOP is loaded with corporatists who couldn’t give a damn about the American taxpayer when it comes down to it.
People can say anything they want about that — but the fact remains that you can’t get away from the number specified by the US Constitution.
The President...shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur...

That could be EASILY challenged in court and affirmed in that challenge by the US Supreme Court. Something like “numbers” are easily upheld.

The nice thing about numbers and mathematics - is that they are hard facts and not subject to interpretation. Anyone who can’t count and doesn’t know how percentages work - doesn’t make it as far as the Supreme Court.
A person may disagree with the politics and interpretation of laws from various judges - but they ALL know how to add 1+1 and get 2 ... :-) ...

The number applies to the number of Senators present, not the number of Senators.

Words are very much subject to interpretation. “Words” are very much more subjective, in a manner that numbers are not.
Oh ... and in regards to the number “present” I did quote that in my original comment.
Also keep in mind that it pays the “opposition” to have ALL their members “present” in order to make it harder to achieve that 2/3 count. In other words, this proportion required is stacked in favor of the opposition.

Cute story but lawyers know how to use numbers, too - which is why their incomes are so high ... :-) ...
